Adding a second floor?
So I noticed that in Nassau county most houses are capes or ranches. Is there some sort of town rule that you cant have a second floor??? If we bought one of these we would like to add a second flloor. How do you find out what the towns allow???? Sorry for all the questions but everyone is just so helpfull

Re: Adding a second floor?
I live in suffolk, so I'm not too sure about Nassau. But I would recommend calling or going down to each town hall or village you are looking in and ask these questions directly. Just tell them you are looking to buy in _____ town and would like to know what you would have to do or not to do if you wanted to put a second floor on a house. I would say that most towns & villages will give you most of the answers you are looking for. You can even find out if the house you are looking at has CO's or not. You can find out the real taxes on the house. GL!

Re: Adding a second floor?
Depends on the Town or Village. Villages are a lot stricter then other towns.

Re: Adding a second floor?
The house across the street is a cape and they just added a full second floor so instead of a cape they did a full dormer. You just need permits from the town.
