ADHD Program @ Cohens

Family Program for ADHD
Cohen Children's Medical Center is holding a family-based program for children with ADHD (or similar issues) and their parents. Parents will explore parenting skills while children learn to manage their behavior, enhance their coping skills, improve their social skills, and more. a lot of kids in my school go to this program (refrred by our school psychologist). i have heard many good things about it from parents.

I actually called her today to get some info. DH is only 4 1/2 but we feel that eventually he may fall into this category.
I do all the ADHD tests online (I know, I know!) and he meets a lot of the criteria.
She was really nice and said that they don't actually diagnose till around 1st grade (which I knew) but she gave me a number of someone to call if I want further testing.
Stupid me, left it on my desk, but I will get it tomorrow when I am there, for you guys.
She said this person is especially good to talk to about meds.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to take my son for testing and I wasn't sure what kind of doctor to see. He is also 41/2 so I know they won't diagnose him but I would like something to bring with me to the next meeting to try to get him more services.

Thank you for sharing!! Just called, Dr. Sonnenklar is out of the office until August 26, FYI!!
I hope they can help us...SD has an extreme case. She sees a psychiatrist and a behaviorist and they are both blown away by her. The psychiatrist says its a miracle she does as well in school as she does, since her impairment is SO high. We've worked with the behvaiorist for almost a year and have made very little progress, she says she's never seen a kid not motivated by a behavior chart. Hopefully this program will give us some idea we haven't heard yet, or will get through to SD when nobody else has :(
