Adopted a dog today! Update --Pics added to album
Hi all,
DH and I had an ori-pei (pug/shar-pei cross), but she died at 10 years old this August from cancer  DH has not been the same since (he raised her since she was a few months old) and we had been talking about rescuing a dog after the holidays.
Well, we heard from a friend who works at the ASPCA that there was a 3 year old Shar-pei at a city shelter... She had been hit by a car and then abandoned, so needless to say she is still very frightened. But after a few days of visiting her and her getting the "okay", we adopted her today! We are so excited that we could help a "cousin" of our furbaby, Puddie.
Just wanted to share --we never thought we could find our perfect pet at a shelter since some breeds are pretty rare, but you can search for different types on this website http://www.nycacc.org/breed_request.html
