Cedar Creek Dog Run - My Experience today, FYI...

Long story short, I stopped at Cedar Creek to let Scout play with other doggies a bit. I had ALex in the car, and decided she could stay in the car seat (she was asleep) with windows open, and me watching - you park right in front of the dog run.

So I get out - lots of dogs all run up to the fence to see the "newcomer". Owners are lolling about in beach chairs in the run, ignoring me, Scout, and their dogs. Except one man. I ask if the dogs are ok with newcomers - he's the only one who answers, and puts his little Boston terrier on a leash. Everyone else, continues to ignore me and go about their important conversations.

I come in -- and the dogs ALL attack Scout. Sniffing, humping, chasing -- he was scared to death. He is only 11 months old, still a pup. And the dogs he has met so far have all been so well-mannered, mostly at his class where there will be 20 dogs off the leash all in one spot.

ONE - yes ONE - person got up and pulled 2 of the most aggressive dogs off him so I could get him out of there. NOBODY ELSE could be bothered -- yeah OK it's a dog run, dogs sniff and get rough but this was ridiculous!! Talk about being odd man out!!

Anyway wanted to share my experience -- I will NEVER go back there AGAIN - we will continue with our civilized and controlled walks at Belmont Lake Park.

Thank GOD I left the baby in the car...Chat Icon

Thanks...I will never take my dogs there now. I will stick to our walks at gardners park. I can't stand when people don't take responsability for their dogs at the park

I hate that park and Wantagh Parks dog run for the same reason.
The people don't care about what their dogs do - they are too busy keeping their spot in the shade.

I'm glad Scout made it out of there okay...he's such a good-natured soulChat Icon

glad scout is ok. Cody once had to go to the vet after getting pined down.
I sometimes go to Wantagh with him. But nothing beats our BFDT family. I saw him on Sat. Your furry baby is getting big and from your avatar so has scout's sister.

Sorry to hear the bad experience. I was thinking of taking Jasmine there for a play date with a friend that says she goes there every night, she lives right down the block in Wantagh. I will have to rethink that!
Sorry and glad your baby is fine

I wanted to go this Sat. but looks like we will be cleaning the beach in Montauk instead!! Hope to see you the following week - and yes, they are BOTH growing up so so fast!
