ADT? Why do so many people dislike them?
Just curious, we want an alarm ASAP on our home and they just seem like the easiest to have come in.
But I know a lot of people really don't like them. Can you share why?
And is there anyone else you can recommend? We're North Shore in Suffolk, if that matters.

They were significantly more expensive than the other companies we got quotes from, and that was with my discount through USAA.
We use Lowitt Alarms and have had no problems. Once there was an issue with a new sensor and they replaced it.

If you do a search on home alarm systems on this board, there will be a tons of threads to review with information.

I found they were sooooo expensive. The install and the rates. But I don't know what my dh requested. I'm sure he wanted all the pricey stuff. We still don't have one.

We did not use slomins because they used to put a lien on your home when you signed with them to ensure payment. I am not sure if they still do that. But once your term was up you would have to pay to have the paperwork done to remove it.

We used Slomins last year and this was NOT the case.

No... this just happened to me. We asked the same question bc we knew we would eventually be moving. They said no problem... the buyer could take over the contract or it could be transferred for a small fee...
Fast forward to a year and a half later... we moved and the buyer did not want to take over the contract...we got hit with a $400 transfer fee... and to cancel altogether would have been more than to have an alarm installed in our new house (they would give us what we had for free but we bought a much bigger house).
Part of it was our fault bc we assumed that a buyer would take over the contract.. who would not want an alarm when it is already installed right? Well, we were stupid and its our fault... but it definitely is not as easy as they make it seem.

we just got slomins installed, they didn't want as much as other companies but then again you are locked into a 5 year contract.
