Advice on non-fish food to bring Christmas Eve?
Okay... so we're not telling people about the baby until Christmas Day, but that still leaves Christmas Eve to get through while being secretly pregnant.
As if not drinking the wine isn't enough of a giveaway (I can blame that on antibiotic or something)... I'm going to the traditional "Fish" dinner on Christmas Eve.
Any suggestions on what dish I can bring that I can eat that won't look obvious that I HAD to bring something non-fishy? I was thinking of making baked ziti, but it's kind of rude to bring a whole other dinner, right?

There are many fish dishes that are very safe to eat while PG...Do you know what specifically they are making?

Have you spoken to your doctor about fish? My doctor approved most fishes excluding some high mercury ones (swordfish and shark), he approved some for in moderation (tuna and lobster), and then the rest were totally fine. I've eaten a fair amount of seafood during pregnancy without any concern.

Well, my other problem is that I don't have a GREAT history with fish - especially shrimp. It's hit or miss as to if I'll get badly sick on shellfish. 75% of the time I'll be fine, but that other 25% is hell. I was always willing (stupidly, maybe) to take that risk, but not while I'm pregnant.

In that case I'd for sure avoid Shellfish! No need to get sick while pregnant, that's definitely no fun. Will there be any pasta dishes, I'd probably pick at that and salad.
I don't think it's rude at all to bring a baked ziti so if the host isn't planning on doing a pasta dish and it's solely shellfish than I'd bring it!

I think baked ziti is a great idea! You can say you stomach was out of whack and since you sometimes get sick from shellfish you thought it was best to avoid it. That is what I would do.

Thank you, all! Maybe I'll do that... I just don't want to look like I'm trying to "show up" the hosts. They just told me I could bring dessert, which I'll also do.

You can also just tell the host that you are having some stomach issues . . would people guess then?
