Advice re. Nanny stealing

If you had suspicions your nanny stole money from your house (say $10 or $20) and are about 90% sure (b/c both you and your husband knew exactly how much $$ was there) and there was a second similar incident (question over how much $$ was given), but you do not have any proof, would you fire her on the spot, get a nanny cam and see if you see anything or just base it on your child seems to like the nanny so you would be more careful? Also, if you were to fire her, how would you handle it being that you have no proof?

Re: Advice re. Nanny stealing

I would get a camera to see what the real situation is. And if she is indeed stealing from you that is a real reflection on the kind of person she is and her morals so I personally would fire her since I wouldn't want my child being cared for by someone that saw nothing wrong with stealing. She may be great with your child, but in the long run I would search for a person with a higher moral code.

Re: Advice re. Nanny stealing

This is a very hot topic (as you will come to find). You really have to trust your gut on this one. I faced a similar situation a few months ago. Now we just don't leave our wallets and purse where it is accessible. It is unfortunate but you have to do what you think is best for the baby.
We have been looking into putting in a nanny cam but just haven't found the time and/or right companyto install them. We want completely covert cameras and this isn't as easy as we had hoped (especially on a budget).
People who have not been in this situation are the first to say fire her. Unfortuanely it isn't that cut and dry. Chat Icon
