Re: AF has entered the building...
The only thing I can think of, is that your doc wants your system completely clean during the HSG in case you accidentally need to crap, you can't because your system is clean...

I'm guessing that what Lissette said is the reason why they'd tell you to use an enema but all I can say it YUCK
Mabye some of the other ladies on the board who has had an HSG done can give you some more insight?
Hey its all for a good cause, though - we must keep teling ourselves that!

Re: AF has entered the building...
Oh and this is what I found on the crappy subject:
Fecal material in the bowel can obscure the genital view necessary. For this reason, your health care provider may give you laxatives to take the night before the test. Sometimes an enema or suppositories may be administered the day of the test. Your health care provider may also supply sedatives to help you relax during the procedure. Be prepared to sign a consent form before the test begins and to wear hospital clothing. Often the test will be scheduled in the week following your period, to ensure that you are not pregnant during the test.

Re: AF has entered the building...
OMG I soooooo wish I could pass on this! Not pass because of the enema though!
Anyway....my OBGYN said she is having me do the HSG as a matter of routine, she doesn't think my tubes are blocked because I am getting PG but she wants to be sure. Plus I think they can look for pollups and some other things while they are in there.
All I keep thinking about is the speculum...and then the cath tube going up and into my cervix and injecting iodine!! AHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAH
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ugh I am just disgusted with the whole idea of this. When I have a child and he/she is older I'm going to make sure they know how much I went through! HA HA
And if they are bratty I will give them an enema!!

Re: AF has entered the building...
Hsg, increases the chance of fertility for a few months actually.....
What happens is, the dye can flush out your tubes...in case you have some mucus build up and it's also oil based.....so it makes the tiny "fingers" in your tubes....all lubed up :) and they can grab.....sperm ..a bit better than before...:)
