AF showed

just now.

I broke down, DH wanted me to test...Bought a test, went to pee. Took the test, and BOOM there was AF....

How freaking ironic Chat Icon

Oh well...ONWARD we go.

IUI #6 this month....new RE and maybe the HSG. My dr only does it on Tuesdays and since I will have AF tommorow, I cant do it then and Next Tuesday is the day after a Holiday and there is NO vacation time, so I may have to put that off as well.

Thanks for the support and well wishes!

Love yas! Chat Icon

Re: AF showed

Chat Icon I am so sorry Donna :( I wish TBAF would just stay away from all of us and let us enjoy life pregnant and then as mothers :(

If you are eager to have the hsg, ask if they will give you a RX to get it done at a radiology facility. That's where RS had me go. I went to one right near the NS facility.

I did conceive after my hsg.

I have wanted to have another one but so far the RE's aren't going for it. :(

Dr. Spandorfer, said they aren't using oil based dye anymore and that's what was helping conception. They say there is a higher risk for infection with the oil based dye. I am curious to know which dye NSUH uses or the radiology place I went to used.

Re: AF showed

I should ask them this. Although I have a feeling NSUH likes to to do their own HSG. I figured it couldnt hurt.

SO, basically it looks like this month will be 100mg of Clomid , and the HSG if I can manage it.
Then if it fails, one month , maybe two of injectables before we give up on the IUIS. Then the waiting game would begin. We cant afford IVF so we would be waiting to get the grant. This is why Im praying for the IUIS to work. After 8 of them, it wont make sense to keep going...so I will start praying for next month NOW ...

DOes anyone know when cycle wise it has to be done in?
Im assuming between CD4-ovulation?

And Im gonna pick back up on the temping and charting. I havent done it in like 3 months and I think I will feel better actually taking a more active approach, knowing Im doing all I can.

I'm so sorry that AF showed. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

As for an HSG, they usually perform them from day 3 through day 10. I had mine done at St. Catherine's Hospital in Smithtown. I was scheduled for 1 pm and was back at work by 2:30 pm (work in Islandia). What I liked about the hospital was that it was performed by a dr. so he was able to tell me everything right then and there. I hope that helps a little.

Not sure how up to date this information is but I thought maybe you may want to get in touch with the person at the bottom.

I did pass on IVF grant information to a woman at work for her daughter. Her daughter was accepted and just had her IVF in dec. I will, ask her for the grant information again. I forget what it was and where I got it from.

Re: AF showed

Donna, I am so sorry AF showed up. Hang in there and I know it will happen for you soon. 2006 is your year!

I also did not have coverage for IVF and applied for the grant at LI IVF. I applied for the grant in late October and by the time I went for my IVF consult on 11/7 I had already been informed that I had received the grant. It went so smoothly.

I would recommend finding out who handles the grant and send your application into them and just keep calling. I was probably a bit of a pain in the neck but I was extremely determined to make this happen as DH & I would have probably waited for IVF if we did not get the grant. It shouldn't take them more than 2 weeks from the time they receive your paperwork until they tell you whether or not you received it. It seemed to me that there was definitely $$ left at LI IVF so if you have no luck at NSU I would try them. If you have any questions please feel free to fm me.

Best of luck to you.

Kathy

Re: AF showed

How do you qualify for the grant? Do you need to make under a certain amount of $?

Re: AF showed

THANK YOU KATHY!!!

The grant SUsan from what I heard is for those who have coverage for inseminations, and Dr. Chu said you had to have had either 3 failed IUIS or a proven fertility issue showing IUI would never work to be considered for the Grant. You need to have current insurance that doesnt provide any benefits for IVF.

I am gonna mention it when I go for my CD 3 appointment.

Yup...I was told the following:

You and DH must make less than $200k
Been diagnosed with IF
FSH of 12 or less (I think it's 12 but it might be different...check on this)
I was told I had to go through 4 ovulation inducted cycles with our without IUI. So if you have taken clomid for 4 months you qualify.
No insurance for IVF but you must have medical insurance...just can't cover IVF.

The qualifications may vary by clinic or may be slightly different in 2006.

Good luck ladies.

Re: AF showed

Donna,
I am so sorry she showedChat Icon ...I wish we could get some graduates here, I feel so badly for everyone who keeps trying and failing.

The grant information is interesting. Does anyone know if you have to pay upfront or if the grant covers everything?

Re: AF showed

You have to pay the portion you would be responsible for up front. So if you get quoted $7,500 as your cost you have to pay that up front.

Re: AF showed

I also want to add...that aside from the grant. There are different studies that are going on, that some of you may qualify for. If you are accepted for the study, they pay for your treatment and I believe expenses.

http://clinicaltrials.gov/

If you type in 'infertility' a bunch of studies show. You can limit them to NY...or which ever area you would be willing to travel to. Unfortunately, these aren't usually convenient...because of location...but some of the studies are quite interesting.
