Affordable care act - Company payout for coverage QUESTION / HELP
Hi,
Due to my divorce, I no longer had health insurance.
I was able to sign up via the affordable care act (THANK HEAVENS!) until September's open enrollment.
My company is giving me the same amount that they offer to the employee's already signed up under the company offered health plans.
They give me this money POST TAX. they claim there is no way to do it pre-tax with the way that the government has it set up.
I can't believe this to be true. Is there anyone out there with information about this. Is this, in fact, true??
Any guidance you have would be appreciated.
THANK YOU!

Affordable care act - Company payout for coverage QUESTION / HELP
I'm not sure about pre/post tax, but I wish all companies would do this. I don't use my companies insurance, and I get nada lol

When I didn't need it, they didn't give me anything.

True - the only way to put money aside pretax is through flex spending accounts IF your company is capable of offering this - not all do.

I'm surprised your divorce wasn't a qualified change in life to be added to the Group plan.
But yeah I agree with the others.

I agree, that's something that I would think would be qualified, just like a birth or marriage.
