After 2 years, I've finally found boots that fit my qualifications AND my Fatty McCalves!
I wanted flat/low heel black and brown high boots - not reallly rugged looking, but not dressy. I wanted to have the option to wear them to work AND with jeans on the weekend....BUT I have a 16" calf. Most high boots are 14", and I'm not a fan of the stretchy material/look.
It took some time, multiple returns, and some money, but I've FINALLY found perfect boots!
More casual: J Crew Long Brewster Boots (extended calf)
These are pull-on ... no zipper. Nice and comfortable, but if you do a lot of walking, you might want to throw in a Dr Scholls for arch support. Awesome quality - italian leather inside and out. Soft rubber sole.
Google for J Crew coupon codes - I got 20% off and no shipping.
Definitely wearable for work: Naturalizer Jadis (plus shaft)
These have a zipper and are a nice combo of leather and suede with a hard rubber/plastic-like sole. These are SO comfortable - I feel like I could walk miles in them. I also have room to spare in the calf. There are elastic panels that are not even stretching on me, so I could safely say that these boots would even fit a 18" calf, yet because of the structure, won't look baggy in the ankle. (a major complaint I had about most wide calf boots). Jeans tuck in without a problem.
I tried these on in Macy's, but they didn't have my size. I ending up purchasing them from Piperlime. Again, Google for coupon codes. I found 30% off, and Piperlime is always free shipping. These were nearly 1/2 the price of the J Crew boots. The quality doesn't match the J Crew boots, but they'll definitely last me a couple seasons.
Voila, there you have it. I am content.

Nice find! Congrats! I am too chicken to measure my calves - they are probably like 25"
