After almost 2 yrs I still can't figure out how to get the shampoo...
out of Andrew's hair without making him cry bloody murder.
What are your tips for me?
I used to be so delicate but now I just poor the water over him really fast. Making sure to cover his ears. He screams like mad but I don't know what else to do.

I use one of those buckets with the flexible rubber from BBB or BRU.
I don't cover their ears anymore i just make em tilt their head backs.
i have girls with lots of hair, it's so hard, but we just do it fast!

I just dump it on dd's head, while counting to 3 (I do it 3 times)
She does not like it, she does not cry but she looks at me and gives me the" what the eff are you doing to me mom" look and tries to climb out of the tub

I have the shower head that comes off on a long hose, and I make her stand in the tub and I just shower her off. She hates it too

I make it a game. First I pour water on her legs, then her belly, then her head. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not.

Re: After almost 2 yrs I still can't figure out how to get the shampoo...
Alex is just starting to get better with this - what made the difference is using the shower head detachment on the bathtub. We let her play around with it for a good 20 minutes, putting her legs and arms under, and after she was comfortable, somehow, we convinced her to put her head under to wash the shampoo out!
Otherwise, I just have her tilt her head back while sitting in the tub.

We just dump the water on their head. They don't like it too much, but we laugh while we're doing it, so hopefully they'll realize that it's OK, and not something to be traumatized about. They've definitely gotten better about it over time.

No matter what we do, he still screams and cries when we try to get the shampoo out of his hair.

Re: After almost 2 yrs I still can't figure out how to get the shampoo...
we have the special cup from BRU too...
but honestly what works is letting her take a barbie doll into the tub. first one pour over barbie's head, then emily, barbie's head, then emily. we take turns and she thinks it's "fair" because barbie gets it too...

I use a little bucket for the bath to rinse him, he gets startled but he does not cry. I also turn on the shower head and he loves to sit under the spraying water and rinse off.

We have the bucket but it seems to make it worse. I tip her head back, cover her ears and literally put her head under the running faucet. Its much faster, she holds a book while I am doing it and she seems more calm.

We use underwater gear. He pretends to be a deep sea diver or what have you. The water gets dumped and his eyes are behind the mask/goggles. So all is well. Image Attachment(s):

I always had DD use a folded up face rag, over her eyes while I poured the water on her hair. I also use this method on my god son. Hardly ever a problem

Re: After almost 2 yrs I still can't figure out how to get the shampoo...
I tried everything--the visor, the washcloth, etc. Nothing really worked. Like you, I eventually just started dumping the water over her head. However, I did it three times and counted each time so that she would see there was an end in sight. She eventually started saying, "No more 1, 2, 3!!!!!" Since she was around 2, I've been having her lean her head back on my hand. She still freaks a bit, but admits it's better than "1, 2, 3"

I had the same problem until I found these visors. I LOVE THEM. No water gets in his face at all. I wash his hair with it on so no shampoo runs down his face also.

I'm no help. Ellie stopped crying eventually. Now she puts up with it. she doesn't like it but tolerates it.

Re: After almost 2 yrs I still can't figure out how to get the shampoo...
I have the same problem. I was actually going to post this today as well. I lean Marron back in my left arm and pour the water with my right hand. I continually say to her "it's okay, it's okay". She now cries while saying "it's okay, it's okay". I usually just end up having to dump it over her head in the end. My concern is that she is always coughing and sputtering after I do it, and I'm always worried about her aspirating some. My mother always did the tub spout thing so maybe I'll have to try that once I have our tub configurating changed. Maybe the hand-held shower sprayer will work. I'm def. going to give the doll trick a try. Maybe you could try using Blue, since Andrew loves him so much.
