After having your 20 week ultrasound
I know you guys call it Level II
Anyway, had it yesterday. We are not finding out what we are having. I must tell you that was torture.
Luckily the baby was cooperative and she was able to get the measurements she needed. She kept saying everything looks fine. She spent alot of time measuring the heart. I was concerned and paranoid that somethng was wrong, but I guess that is an area they really need to concentrate on.
I have a regular dr's appt in two weeks where I will follow up with her.
Just wondering *if* something was wrong or there was some concern, they will call you before your appt right?

Re: After having your 20 week ultrasound
I would assume so because these results are sent to the dr. pretty quickly as there's no blood results to wait for. We have our 20 wk ultrasound/anatomy scan at the hospital on a Tuesday and my dr will have the results by our app on Thursday of the same week.

Re: After having your 20 week ultrasound
I had my level II at the OB, so I saw the doctor right after the sono. I would assume if something were of any concern that the doctor would call you rather than wait 2 weeks to see you at the next appt. I give you credit for not finding out what the baby is!

Re: After having your 20 week ultrasound
They do spend a lot of time on the heart. They have to take pictures of each chamber, then all 4 chambers together etc. Our technician spent about 15-20 minutes on the heart bc the baby kept moving and she couldn't get the 'right' picture.
They would have had a doctor come in to talk to you if anything was wrong. They would not wait to tell you if something was urgent/needed attention.

Re: After having your 20 week ultrasound
I had my 20 week level II last week at week 18 because my AFP bloodwork came back with a elevated risk of Downs. Based on that, my Dr. advised us to make an appointment with the genetic counselor for immediately following my sono. At that time they went over the sono results with us because there were some soft markers for Downs on the baby. My Dr. also had me move up my appointment with her to the same day as well so we can go over the results.
If something was wrong, they would have had the Dr. come in and talk to you at that time.
