After PG plans?
I am just trying to get a feel of what most people do after the baby is born.
I have only been teaching 1 year, and know that I won't get hired as a preggo teacher, especially if I am due at the end of August.
So I'm probably going to take the first year off, but I don't know when Iam going back. What is everyone's plans?

Re: After PG plans?
DH is an FDNY Firefighter so he gets lots of weekdays off... After my maternity leave I will be working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. My job is being really nice about it! Each week I will get to pick which days I need to be in the office and which days I will stay home. If all goes well one parent will ALWAYS be with the baby... That is unless I have a big case, where a family member will take care of him.

Re: After PG plans?
I would love be a SAHM until the baby starts school. However, I will be working part time seeing clients and working from home once she is here.

Re: After PG plans?
I'll be returning to work. I may try to go back part-time or work a few days a week from home. I hope to have DH's family take the baby a few days a week and use day-care for the other days.

Re: After PG plans?
I'll be returning to work, but I only work part time. I'm a dance teacher so I teach from 3:30 in the afternoon to early evening (6:30-8:30) 4 days a week. My mom and MIL will watch the baby for a couple hours a day in between when I leave for work and when DH gets home from work.

Re: After PG plans?
After Andrew was born I became a SAHM. HOwever, bcause my line of work (consulting) was easy to do from home, I went back to work after 6 months working PT - which is only 1 day a week and DH stays home with Andrew. That worked out great and the little bit of money helped. Now after baby #2, I will be again a SAHM and not be working at all.

Re: After PG plans?
Staying at home. I am sort of keeping the lines of communication open with my boss, in case I want to do some part time work from home if I end up not enjoying SAHM-hood. But I have a feeling I'll like it!

Going back to work after maternity leave. Having either a nanny come to my house or family member come to my house.

Re: After PG plans?
I can't believe how many have plans to be a SAHM. I mean I love teaching, but I always wanted to be a mom and I can't see not being there for the important years of my child's life. Besides DH wants to have a second one right away if all goes well, so there is no point in returing to work.
SO to think about it I have 44,000 in student laons for my BS and MS only to work 1 year haha.

I would LOVE to be a SAHM. I currently work 30 a week (4 days) and my SIL watches her 3 days and DH watches her the other day.

Re: After PG plans?
I have my own company, which gives me more and less flexibility than most people. I won't be able to stay away for 3 months (I'm hoping for 3 weeks) but I can bring the baby with me.
Also, DH works from home so the baby can also stay home with him.
(I changed careers with children in mind, since I knew I wouldn't want to be working the typical corporate full time job once we had kids)

Re: After PG plans?
I'm a SAHM, and when the kids go to school I plan to start my own home based business, but want the flexibility to have off when they do, be able to attend school plays, etc.

Re: After PG plans?
I would LOVE to stay home for thefirst year, but we could NOT afford it. During the winter, DH is not making any money because he is a seasonal worker, so I will have to go back to work after my leave After that we will either do day care a few days and switch between my mom and my MIL watching them.

Re: After PG plans?
I'm going through this debate in my head right now. Financially, I could be a SAHM but I'm hesistant to give up my job because it's close to home and I make good money, I know the partners are going to be flexible and I will be able to work from home a couple of days a week and I will lose my licenses if I am out of work for too long. So, I don't really know what I am going to do.

Re: After PG plans?
I work PT 2 nights a week from 2-10pm. My mom watches the baby from 1-5 until DH gets home. Right now I am doing a weekend day until April when that new schedule will start. Working on the weekend just cut out too much family time.
