After pre-k Graduation?
DD has her pre-k graduation in June. What do you guys do after graduation? I overheard a mom say EVERYONE goes to the diners after with their families. So my immediate family is 5. My parents will definitely come AND my in laws and possibly a sibling or two (or 4). So then it gets complicating with who pays. What happens in your families? I would feel like i should pay if it's both sides of the family and MY kid's graduation but that may get out of hand and we have a lot of expenses right now. Is it standard that everyone goes out after? Should I get a few catered sandwich platters with some sides and invite everyone over? I know I am stressing way in advance. I feel like if we cater some platters for 10 and get a graduation cake it would cost around 200 but if we go to a restaurant it could easily be double or more? WWYD
ETA: only a few weeks before graduation we have our kid's bday party and invite both sides over for food after and last week we just had our other kid's birthday with both sides over after and we haven't been invited to in laws for a meal in over 6 months I feel like i am always hosting but i have the kids and i don't want to spend so much $$ out? Meanwhile married BIL (who has one kid and never hosts anyone over) asked us what the plan was for mother's day (hinting- we should host). So I guess this is also a vent.... SORRY!!!

After pre-k Graduation?
That's a bit much for a pre-K graduation. Isn't it during the day so most people will be at work? Only my parents came to my daughter's graduation. We didn't do anything except go to Carvel later.

I agree with this. My oldest is graduating from Pre-K in June. We just got the date last week, and my parents & in laws are both coming, but just for the ceremony and then they all have to go back to work. I am not telling aunts & uncles about it- it would get to be too many people. DH & I will probably take the kids to Friendly's after for lunch & ice cream- the ceremony is at 10:15. But that's it. I will save the cake and having people back at my house for middle school graduation.

Who cares what everyone else does? Invite the grandparents over for pizza and small dessert.

After pre-k Graduation?
I think going out, even to a diner, sounds over the top. All these "graduations" have gotten WAY out of hand.

After pre-k Graduation?
I think after graduation we may take them to friendly's for lunch or maybe dinner later that night. My MIL is probably the only one coming to graduation.

Re: After pre-k Graduation?
Seriously? Is there a ceremony? OMG... When does it stop? I never even thought of celebrating preschool or preK graduation. My kids never missed it & I haven't heard of anyone celebrating it. I'd go with get some ice cream cake & serve coffee.

After pre-k Graduation?
My DS has his also in June. We are doing nothing! I'm not buying into the we need to celebrate huge every little thing. The graduation is celebration enough at that age.

After pre-k Graduation?
When my daughter had her stepping up ceremony for both 3 and 4 years old just the grandparents came to it (and me and DH of course). We also took my 3 year old niece at the time. But afterwards we just went for pizza. I don't even think my dad or DH came to eat...bc they had to go back to work. We went to a pizza place and then got the girls ice cream. That was it.

After pre-k Graduation?
For my son's, we went to Friendly's afterwards. My daughter's pre-k graduation is in June as well and we will probably do Friendly's again. It's just both sets of Grandparents and us.
These types of things are what you make of it. People go all out or do nothing or something in between. There is no right or wrong.

Re: After pre-k Graduation?
We have a big preK graduation, caps and gown and all. We will have both sets of inlaws and my DS's aunts and uncles there. I'm sure some will return to work, but we have people traveling to come. It is a big deal to me. He has been at this school since he was 2 and is now going to the local elementary school. It is silly and cute, but he is proud of himself and that is what matters to me. We will either go to Friendlys or get sandwiches back at the house. We aren't having a graduation party, but would like to take him on a special trip to celebrate. This is just my take on it.

After pre-k Graduation?
I invited grandparents, my two sisters and their kids to my house. Ordered a few pizzas. That's it. Just wanted my son to have a special little day.

After pre-k Graduation?
We went out to dinner with the grandparents. But, we would have done that anyway - DS graduated from UPK (afternoon) and daycare's Pre-K (dinner time) on the same day and logistically - it was easier to go out to dinner than to make something at home since my parents live over an hour away and were there... Otherwise, we probably would have gotten take out.
ETA - Both graduation ceremonies had a reception afterwards as well so no additional celebration was necessary IMO.

I made my son's favorite dinner after his pre-K graduation. That was all of the celebrating we did.

Re: After pre-k Graduation?
My dds had a small stepping up for prek and my parents came. After that we did go out to lunch but it was lunch time and we were hungry lol. I don't remember but I'm sure we got a small carvel cake too (it was only last year, my memory is shot lol) You do whatever you are comfortable with. It doesn't need to be anything big but I think either their favorite lunch or dessert/cake is nice because it is a special day for them. I wouldn't do a party that would be over the top. But it was just 6 of us and I didn't want to cook lunch so we went out. I am sure we will do the same for k stepping up this year

After pre-k Graduation?
my DS is "graduating" Pre-k in june, too. they do a little "show" and get little certificates. Its also with the 4 year old class that AREN"T going on to K yet... so its really more of just a show kind of thing. my parents and in laws all live a few hours away. i don't even think i'm gonna invite them. to have them come up for a night or 2 just for a 15-20 minute thing is a little crazy. BUT Dh, DS and I will probably all go out to eat afterward- let DS pick where

Re: After pre-k Graduation?
My older son's Pre K grad was 6:00 during the week, so I assume the litle one's will be the same this year.
Last time, my family and most of the ILs came for the 'ceremony' but only my parents and sister/BIL came to dinner w/ us (the others declined) we did it as a total last min thing like "Hey we're going out, want to come?" ............
I'm NOT looking forward to having to do that crap with all of my ILs b/c that's ALOT of people, and like you, I'll be coming off of both boys birthday in April and May, when I host everyone for food/cake ets.
If anything, maybe I'll just do pizza It really depends on who shows up that night - I'm probably going to decide on the fly.

Re: After pre-k Graduation?
I understand. We had both my parents, my grandma, and my in laws over afterwards. I think we ordered pizza and ate at home to keep the costs down. I also host Mother's Day and Father's Day too. None of our siblings have kids so a lot of it falls on us. Thankfully, my parents and in laws are both good about hosting things too, but I understand.

After pre-k Graduation?
Our school limits the number of tickets so it'll only be me, DH, and my parents. We'll probably go to the diner or Friendly's afterwards. Definitely not doing anything big.
