After school care Costs

How much do you pay for after school childcare?

Is it by the hour, week, month?

How many hours?

Is it in the school or outside?

If outside, how are kids transorted?

Does the program have HW help?

Is it open during school vacations/holidays?

Where do you live?

Thanks!

Re: After school care Costs

My son will be in K in September and his UPK class sent home a notice about a SCOPE before and after school care program...it seemed extremely reasonable. They provided snack, activities and homework help. I didn't keep the flyer, but maybe your district has something like that as well.

I pay $320 a month for after school care. That is Mon-Fri from 2:30-5:30, they do snack, homework help and a different daily activity (dance, cooking, craft ect..)

Im in Queens and we are lucky to have an afterschool program onsite at the school, which is run by the local samual field Y. If we had to bus the kids to afterschool at an offsite location it would cost $500+ a month

Re: After school care Costs

How much do you pay for after school childcare?
I paid 9/day

Is it by the hour, week, month?
By day

How many hours?
From school let out (3:20) until pick up (Latest pick up is 6pm)

Is it in the school or outside?
At a church.

If outside, how are kids transported?
District provides bus.

Does the program have HW help?
No. They have snack, organized games, play room, play ground, game room, movies, etc..

Is it open during school vacations/holidays?
It is open on half days but not on holidays or vacations.

Where do you live?
Sayville

Our district also has a SCOPE After Care program.. but it was full by the time I went to register the kids so I never got to take advantage. I do know that SCOPE in our district does not provide half day care, so I was pretty content with the program we got.

Re: After school care Costs

Our church has a program where the kids get bussed from the school to the church. It is $10 a day ($9 a day for the second kid) until 5:30.

They have HW help, activities, and snack.

Re: After school care Costs

So found out mine in the school that does a lot of HW help is $21 per day per kid. That would be $42 per day for me. It's not charged by the month because of school holidays. Still, in May it is $462 per kid for 22 days!!! In April, it was 362 per kid I think!

I meeting with the owner to see if he can give me a discount, it's only 10% off for a sibling, but I would never be able to afford this.

That is insane!!! Our district is something like $7 a day for aftercare.
