I don't work at a college but I am a grad student and am a teacher at a school. we had a lock down last year, it was really scary

I don't work there, but I do work for a college and this has me so nervous.....we've always said this...you just never know. Now, I work for the day care center and I don't even know what we would do if someone would come in armed.....I would probably die of a heart attack!  Our college doesn't seem to have any plan if any thing should happen..not that I am aware of any ways!

I go to school in Queens. This is the message I received via my school email:
It has come to our attention that this afternoon an incident occurred at St. John's University - Queens campus - forcing a campus lockdown.
xxxxx, Director of Public Safety at xxxxx College, has been in contact with the New York City Police Department - 111th Precinct.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL PRECAUTIONS ARE BEING TAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR COLLEGE COMMUNITY.
If we receive additional information we will advise you accordingly.
