Afternoon preschool and naps

I want to enroll DD into half-day preschool but the only time available is during her afternoon nap. She gets very cranky if she misses her nap. I could try to get her up earlier in the morning and have her nap before school but waking at 5am doesn't sound appealing to me.

Would you enroll your child if it's normally during their nap time? Has anyone done that before and how did it turn out?

I think ti really depends on your child and how easily they would adjust to a new nap time. I know My DS would have a problem with this. I just enrolled him in preschool and the two times are 8:30-11:00 and 12-2:30. Thank goodness I was able to get the 8:30-11:00 slot because if not I think my DS would have been a mess. I have tried to nap him other times, besides his regular nap time, and he just does not nap as well.

I have a 3 yr old that still naps for 3 hrs most days. Without her nap she is a mess. I had to pick the morning preschool slot (she"ll be one by 11:45), I most definately would not have put her in the afternoon class...she is not the type to be open to change of schedule.

How much later than her usual nap does school end? The first year my daughter was in nursery school she was in the afternoon session, which ended about a half hour later than my son used to start his nap. I used to put him down for a nap pretty much as soon as we got home from picking my daughter up, so it didn't mess us up too much.
