Ahhhh... government jobs are the BEST
I've worked a little over one extra hour a day since I started last week, and now, only two weeks into my job, I built enough time to take a day off on Friday if I want... hmmmm, where should I take Alex? The aquarium? Zoo?  
I could get used to this 
And did I mention they give me time off for parent/teacher conferences? For school trips? For some medical appointments? And I can work from home one day a week?
And to boot, the work is absolutely amazing, and really, really interesting??
I'm in my happy place right now

eta: if you're going to the zoo let me know. we just got a membership to the philadelphia zoo (i'm assuming that's where you'd go). maybe we could meet up. a non-LI LIF GTG!

 "a non-LI LIF GTG" - OMG, that is so funny! I probably won't go this week, but I'm thinking sometime soon, I'll use that day off and go - we should definitely meet up! I'll let you know what day I plan it for!

Another government lawyer here, have been for the past 16 years (since I graduated from law school). Absolutely can't beat the perks. It is a completely humane way to work and have a family. My agency provides for 2-3 days of work at home if you are full time ( I am not) and have 3 years as a staff attorney.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the government. I'm glad it seems to be working out so well for you.
