Alaska Cruise
We are thinking of going on a cruise to Alaska. We like the idea of free-style crusiing with NCL.
Two Questions 1. Has anyone had any extremly bad or good experiences with alaskan cruises with NCL or any other lines? 2. Do you book your airfare with the crusieline or by yourself. I noticed that the flight to Seattle if I book myself is about 900 and I can pick my flights. If I do it through the crusie-line it is about DOUBLE!!!!
Any experiences or advice???
Thanks!

Re: Alaska Cruise
We did an NCL cruise around Hawaii three years ago and I loved it. We never waited very long for tables (it was only 2 of us) and the food was very good.
We are doing another NCL to Alaska this July, and I am doing the airfare on my own, only because I have enough FF to fly free. If not, I would use my travel agent, Dawn from Cruise One. She is awesome and always finds me the lowest rates.
Good luck!

Re: Alaska Cruise
Another question (lakrav is my DH), which is better, Glacier Bay or the Inside Passage?

Re: Alaska Cruise
we did the Norwegian Pearl around Alaska- it was AMAZING!! we booked the cruise through Dawn at Cruise One, who also did our HM (she is a vendor on here and fabulous) but did our air on our own- we flew Delta out of JFK
If you go, definitely look into getting a balcony room- it was worth EVERY penny!

Friends of ours suggested that we do the Glacier Bay route as well - so that is what we are doing.

Re: Alaska Cruise
We went on a Celebrity Alaskan cruise in August it was great. We started in Seward and ended in Vancouver. I didn't want to begin and end in the same place.
Regarding the airfare if you are not going to use the cruise line air package if you miss your flight and then the ship it will be at your expense to catch the cruise somewhere else. I took a european cruise the year of the black out and we almost missed the ship they delayed it 2 hours for us because there were 17 people they would have had to put up in the hotel. If we booked it ourselves we may have been out of luck. If you are going to book on your own I would get to the place of departure a day earlier.

What's the difference? We did Alaska two years ago, the inside passage, and the only difference was we didn't go to Galicer Bay, but to Tracey Arm instead. We had all the same ports and that was considered Inside Passage
