Alaskan Cruise ... packing questions

DH and I are going on an Alaskan cruise in August. I have been doing research on what to bring and I am getting overwhelmed. Anyone that has been to Alaska what should I pack?

TIA

We went the end of June. It was surprisingly cold when you are near the glaciers. We had on triple layers and then blankets.

It will probably be warmer in August; but I would still bring 2 or 3 sweatshirts and long sleeve tshirts so you can layer appropriately for the day/activity and add/remove as necessary.

Re: Alaskan Cruise ... packing questions

We were just there two weeks ago. On our stops in Skagway and Juneau it was cold - around 50 degrees - and it rained on and off. I wore jeans, a long sleeve shirt and a north face windbreaker and I was never cold. Pretty much everyone I traveled with wore the same, except my husband who forgot jeans Chat Icon and wore a hooded sweatshirt and shorts everywhere. I wouldn't go crazy with the sweaters or anything, just get a jacket with a hood and you should be fine.

Re: Alaskan Cruise ... packing questions

I was in Alaska last August. I dressed in layers. I took some summer stuff- in Sitka it was 80 degrees, I wore capri's, in Juneau it was coldish, I had on jeans, a tee shirt, and put on a sweatshirt and took a light jacket with me, etc. Definately bring gloves- near the galciers it was very cold.
By the way we were on a cruise , so we were in a few ports.
Our ports were:
San Fransisco
Juneau
Skayway
Sitka
Tracy Arm (Glacier cruising)
British Columbia
