Alex has been bit twice in a week
The most recent left a big red bite mark on her arm. She came home and the whole night she kept pointing to her arm saying "booboo"... "avery"
So I basically know who the offender is, even though they won't tell me. It's that little girl, Avery, who mauled Alex on the playground that day when I was there, and as I tried to rescue her, the little girl ran after us, grabbing Alex's legs, squeezing them as hard as she could.
The same little girl whose father didn't intervene until the very end, and when he did, it was to pick up Avery, hug her and say "It's ok Avery, do you need a hug, let's just cuddle until you calm down"
So, what do I do? Do I wait for another biting incident before I alert the school that I think something needs to be done?

I would alert the school now. This "Avery" needs to be kicked out. Especially if she's had 2 or more incidents. I'd be so mad.
So sorry for Alex.

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
I would alert the school now. I would also threaten a lawsuit if Avery is not removed. I remember when this happened the first time and Avery's parents did nothing. I would go through the school at this point if it were me.
I am willing to bet money that Alex is not the only child she has tormented.
ETA: I would be livid and I would not care about what Avery's parents thought of me. It would take all that I would have not to go over there and bite them!

I agree. I'm surprised other parents haven't complained about her. She probably has done this to other kids. Poor Alex.

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
In my DD's daycare they had a biter and there was a TA assigned to be with him all day so that no one got bit. Demand that they do something with this Avery beast!
Poor little Alex

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
Can u confront the parents? I don't know how much will come out of it, probably nothing seeing how lax the father was the last time. Yeah, as everyone else posted, let the school know and demand action.
Poor lil Alex, she's so cute btw, I saw you guys on HGTV!

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
Honestly, I feel weird confronting hte parents because up until recently, their daughter was a sweetie-pie, and we were quite friendly. I've backed off now that some of this stuff has happened.
I think I will talk to the school, particularly, her teacher, to see exactly what they are doing.
Bee - thanks!

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
If I was in the situation I would tell the school Alex told me it was Avery and the other issues they have had..either Avery needs to be moved to another room or another school

I would talk to the school now...two times can SOMETIMES and over time, be acceptable, but within ONE week is too much...especially if you think that it is the kid who has been a past aggression issue...
Kids will be kids...but some are demons. Hope Alex feels better

I would definitely confront the school. If its happening on school time, they are responsible and should be monitoring the situation. At the very least, they should not have the two of them in the same class.

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
I would speak to the director. Most schools have a biting policy. In addition, I would call the state licensing authority, to get a feel for what is considered "generally reasonable" in this situation. I know that some schools require parents attend a "biters" workshop. I would put the onus completely on them and let them know you are thinking about calling the state. Trust me, they know they have liability in this situation.
Good luck.

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
I would alert the school now about your concerns... Even if they don't do anything about "Avery" right now - At least your on the record as having said something in case of another incident.
Hope Alex's boo boo feels better.

Re: Alex has been bit twice in a week
I would call the school & tell them this is the second time that Avery bit Alex. And something needs to be done. I wouldn't confront the parents unless the school chooses not to do anything.
