Tums are fine and so is Maalox and Mylanta. Not sure about alka seltzer. Mine is so bad, the doctor actually told me to take pepcid in the severe cases but i wouldnt do that without talking to a doctor. Feel better!

Re: alka seltzer / TUMS

i have taken tums and mylanta and zantac, and my doctor told me that they are all fine. tums and mylanta are for helping heartburn that you already have, but zantac can actually prevent heartburn from starting. so if you're having persistent heartburn i'd consider it. worked wonders for me!

GOOD LUCK, sorry you're feeling lousy - been there myself Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: alka seltzer / TUMS

yes...they are fine and if you dont have alka seltzer in the house, just add a teaspoon of baking soda to warm water ( about 4-6 oz's)...its the same exact thing...works for me all the time....

I would check on the alka seltzer I thought my dr said no to that but I could be wrong - Tums is perfectly fine - the smoothies are good and so are the extra strength ones.

Re: alka seltzer / TUMS

Alka Seltzer was on my list of medicines you can't take from my doctor's office. It says that Alka Seltzer has too much salt and other chemicals and not to take Baking Soda (sodium Bicarbonate)

I've been getting it really bad lately. Right before I turn in for the night it's killer and sometime I will have it first thing in the morning and I didn't even eat anything.

If anyone can recommend other home made remedies that would be great. I've read vanilla ice cream, honey and milk...anything else?
