ALL for Baby's or Dreft?

OK the price difference is HUGE. Dreft is almost double the price of the ALL Chat Icon

What laundry detergent do the mom's use? Do you really need special "baby" detergent?
I was going to buy the ALL but all I have every heard of was Dreft or Ivory, which I didn't see at the store.

I used Dreft. I didn't even know about baby ALL. Maybe it wasnt out then Chat Icon

Yes you really do need a special detergant b/c their skin is SO sensitive.. the few times I didn't use it my son would actually get little rash kind of spots and break out worse then normal Chat Icon

Re: ALL for Baby's or Dreft?

I've heard lots of people say that the Baby All is as good as Dreft and a heck of a lot cheaper.

I actually bought a bottle of Baby All to use on my own clothes. I started getting very itchy with this pregnancy and decided maybe it was my detergent...switched to the Baby All and I'm feeling a lot better...I am definitely going to use this for the baby too.

I'm using dreft right now because I got a huge bottle of it at my shower. I also got a bottle of all, which I will use next. I see no difference between the 2 (besides the price)...just as long as you don't use regular detergent.

BJ's has a giant bottle of Dreft for 19.99...is that a good price?

I use Dreft, and agree that some sort of baby detergent is necessary for many (but not all).

Remember, you'll only be doing about one load a week -- their clothing is sooo small. So, you won't be buying the Dreft nearly as often as your regular detergent.

I think that's a good price because a regular size bottle was close to $11 at the grocery store.
I will check Sams and Costco here and see what the prices are like for the Dreft and Baby ALL.

I have been using Baby ALL for all Claire's clothes since she was born. It is just as good as Dreft but a lot cheaper. I think the type of detergent varies by baby, some have more sensitive skin then others. I know for my niece her clothes were washed with regular detergent and there was never a problem.

I purchased a small Dreft for Jack's newborn sized clothes just in case he was a premmie and then switched to ALL free and clear (Baby All is hard to find by me)

I think Dreft is a load of bull especially since most of the time the baby is up against our clothes so it's not like only his/her clothes touch her skin and with the price of Dreft I doubt anyone uses it for their entire family. So IMO a product like ALL which you can wash all your families clothes in is much better for everyone and less expensive.

I bought a bottle of Dreft at first, but when it's finished I'm going to use All free and clear.

I have neverused a special detergent - I figured I would see if my baby tolerated regular detergent, and he did. He has beautiful soft skin and I don't think a special "baby" detergent is necessary. Of course, babies with sensitive skin need the baby detergent I suppose. But, in either case, I would not buy Dreft - I think it has a very strong scent that is more irritating than the Free detergents - I would get All Free...

Re: ALL for Baby's or Dreft?

I used Dreft since before John was born to wash all his clothes in preperation of him being born. Last month I decided to try Baby All because it was a little cheaper. My son broke out in a horrible rash. I have since switched back to Dreft and no more rashes.

Re: ALL for Baby's or Dreft?

I've never used Dreft because of the price. I also don't like the smell of it. I've always used Baby ALL and still do. I've always used ALL Free and Clear for our clothes. For us the Dreft was too expensive. We've had no problems with Baby ALL.

I used Dreft for the first time only because I got a big bottle at my shower. Now I use All Baby that I also got at my shower. BNo issues with either.

I have some other kind next - I think it Downy or something for babies. I'll try that next.

We use dreft. I was very nervous in the beginning because my skin is very sensitive so I didnt want to take a chance with the baby.

Re: ALL for Baby's or Dreft?

my son had very sensitive skin when he was young...so sensitive that if his face touched someone elses clothes he would break out in a rash. I intially used Dreft but switched to Baby All and now use All Free N Clear and he is going to be 9 months old. I would say maybe around 6-7 months I stopped using the baby All. We had no problems with either one and I obviously preferred Baby All because of the price Chat Icon

I agree with Jilly, I have never used a special detergent either. I use Tide and Wisk and I haven't had any problems.
