Allergies now? Any medication that works?
Help! Could I be having an allergy attack now? Any meds that really work?

Re: Allergies now? Any medication that works?
Singulair, which is typically prescribed for asthma, is the ONLY allergy medication that works for me. It is not an antihistamine, rather a leukotriene blocker. It NEVER makes me drowsy and I have been on it for years.

Same here. I have tried everything else and nothing else worked for me.

Re: Allergies now? Any medication that works?
I take a zyrtec every day, it doesn't make me sleepy, but many people say it does, so my doc says to take it just before bedtime and it will be effective the next day.
If I already have an attack, I just have to suck it up and take a benadryl or two and cut my losses and sleep it off.

Unfortunately, allergy season is basically all seasons except for winter. Right now ragweed is high and trees are starting....

Re: Allergies now? Any medication that works?
Mine have been terrible lately -- and they are normally not bad this time of year. I've heard that it is worse now because of all the rain we got this Spring and Summer -- something about mold. Whatever the reason, it stinks! I find that Zyrtec 24 hour works great. On days that are real bad I take a Singulair along w/ the Zyrtec.
HTH!

Same here. I've taken Zyrtec before but Singular works better for me all around.
