Am I completely off base with this one??
DH is walking around SLAMMING doors because he just asked me when his goddaughter's birthday is - and I said "I think it's November 6th" He yelled "WHY didn't you tell me?"
We weren't invited to a party...why am I responsible for remembering everyone in his family, inner circle & outer circle's birthdays??? Does having a uterus mean I'm supposed to keep a calendar of all of these people? I don't remember that part of the ceremony where I promised to love, honor, cherish & manage his social calendar & gift obligations....
Am I wrong on this one?

I don't think so- it can be hard to remember all those birthdays. I was thinking about making a chart to hang somewhere, since marriage means that there are 2x as many dates to remember!
But I do think the obligation to remember falls on the woman. I don't agree with it at all, but it happens.

Re: Am I completely off base with this one??
I have been around this my whole life. My father completely left all that crap up to my mom and she complains about it all the time. DH got a birthday card from his friend - and it was written out by his wife - so basically DH's friend couldn't take the time to fill out the card.
I told DH don't ever expect me to take care of his responsibilities.

You are too funny!
But no- you are not wrong. Its easier for DH to blame you for not reminding him than to blame himself for forgetting.
You may want to get DH a calendar and remind him to put everyone's birthdays and anniversaries in it. That way from now on he will have to see it as his responsibility. That's hat I did. Granted DH never wrote anything in it, but at least its his fault from now on.

Re: Am I completely off base with this one??
Ok he actually said that yes having a uterus means I have to do those things
This is an ongong problem since I'm not the "traditional" wife. I'm not a good cook and I'm a horrible decorator. I'd rather set up our home network than hang curtains. Most of his friend's wives don't work or if they do it's part time. The other day he told me I don't do anything around the house...I'm the one that does the laundry, raked up & bagged the leaves, fixes the modem when it's not working, arranged for a new daycare, a child psychologist, a school early invention, filled out 26 pages of forms for EACH kid to get them into a new place - and that was all last week.
I went downstairs & told him I was sick of being told what I'm doing wrong and that I know I'm not his idea of a "good wife". That he needs to decide what he wants because I'm not going to take it anymore. He apologized, but I'm still furious.
I'm finding a birthday reminder website right now - they can email him!
Sigh...sorry for the vent - I'm glad I"m not the only one whose husband lives in the 50s.
