Am I crazy going to the Bronx Zoo at 35 weeks and walking around??
DH, my son, his girlfriend and I went to the zoo today and had a great time, but WOW was I BEAT when we were done. We didn't ride any of the attractions, we walked everywhere. At first I was feeling great, but towards the later afternoon, I was so tired. We came home and I showered and now I am so sore.
OK OK I'll be honest..it may have been a little crazy, BUT I was hoping doing all that walking would make her come earlier. I'm just so anxious to see her. No such luck.

I think if she hasn't had any type of preterm labor symptoms she would be fine walking all day and not going into labor.
They TELL most women to walk around 37 weeks to get things moving, but just to stay hydrated and stop when they feel too tired.
At 35 weeks I was still walking 2 miles to and from the bus stop to work.....walking is good and healthy for you.

If you can go for it enjoy just sit when youo have too. When we were at Sesame Place the other day there was a woman who was 8 months pregnant there. She had already gone into pre -term labor a few weeks before . I was just like WOW

I was talking more about hoping the walk would make her come early. Seems like so many people are ok with delivering this early and I need some of thier comfort level

I'd be ok with her coming this early. I'm only 4 weeks away..and believe there would be nothing to worry about. Of course, I know it's always better to carry to full term, but seeing as how I'm feeling uncomfy...I "daydreamed" about it happening now.
Although it didn't, I will say that walk REALLY made me sleep a whole lot better!

I hear you. I am 28 weeks 3 dys and I tell you if I knew she would be healthy I would be first in line. I think men should carry babies part of the time.

I would continue to do whatever you feel comfortable doing. I went to donner in the city the night before I gave birth this time and we walked for blocks and blocks.

I find it so hard to do this. I know I really should be relaxing..but I can't. The only time you find me relaxing is when I'm sick...LOL!

haha - you sound like me!!!
I am also 35 weeks and DH, my son and mom all went to the Bronx Zoo in the wonderful 85+ heat. I have been feeling good and the heat hasn't bothered me yet and thought nothing of it but boy after an hour and a half or so I started to feel it. It is a lot of uphill walking. Luckily by 1ish my son was a cranky mess so we didn't stay too long after that. I guess that combined with the night before - I had a wedding and got home after 2am and spent the day in 3.5 inch heels which I haven't done in awhile. My calves were killing me from the heels still today and they the walking the zoo just made it worse. Started getting belly pains too - felt like I was dehydrated but yet I was drinking so much water. Anyway, when we got home today - I tried to rest but couldn't lay down at all - I don't know how to relax - I feel lazy when I try to lay down and start gteting anxious. The only time I relax and nap - I know I am sick!!
Hope you are feeling better now!! Early to bed for me tonight!!

These posts are scaring me! I'm 32 weeks and still very active and I never thought that I was pushing myself into early labor by walking alot? Isn't this just when you are right at the end it speeds it up when you would have given birth anyway soon?

Good for you. I had a BBQ on Saturday for 30 people and it took me all day Sunday to recover and I'm only 14 weeks.
DH was out and about before me & he was hung over.
