Am I getting ripped off...oil question?
we just paid $ 3.19 a gal. for oil - we do have a contract with them, BUT COD co. are at $2.37 - that is a big price difference, if we get 3 or more during this winter season. Is this normal for contracts? I like having a contract, with a toddler and an older burner. They have 24 hour service, but I don't want to be ripped off either!

My DH works for an oil company and tells everyone you will get oil cheaper if you go with COD but you don't have a contract for service so if something goes wrong you are sol. So you are not being ripped off just getting what you pay for... KWIM..

We used to use Slomins and we paid COD and had a separate service contract with them.

I think it's worth it but DH want to stick with COD-- I'm getting oil delivered today at $2.15-- they will service your boiler but we just need to make another appointment- in my opinion I'd rather have the peace of mind of a contract and pay a little more Although that is a really good price

Re: Am I getting ripped off...oil question?
I'm locked in with a fixed price of 3.89 with a $600 penalty if I cancel my contract. I don't know what to do but these COD prices are making me want to opt out of the contract.

The rate you have doesn't seem to bad, really. We do COD, but have a service contract with someone else. Maybe you can look into that for next year.

I'm out of the loop. What is COD? Is it "cash on delivery"? I'm assuming this is different that a budget plan where you have a contract.

I got a delivery on Wed for $3.15. I also have a contract with a ceiling price.
