Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)- Update!
Every time I look at costumes I just can't bring myself to spend $50 (together) or more on costumes for them. Money is tight right now, and a costume they are only going to spend a few hours in and never remember seems very impractical, but I don't want to regret not dressing them up for their 1st halloween. I did get them onesies yesterday that say "My First Halloween."
Update: I just wanted to thank everyone for suggesting once upon a child for a costume - I got DD a bunny costume for $4.50 and DS a dinosaur costume for $6.50!!

ON's are so cute and so cheap for infants.
I think with a coupon I had bought the lion one for 2.00.

I don't think you'll regret it at all. Ds was only 7 wks old & I put him in his Tigger bathrobe, took pics & called it a day.
How old are they & are you going anywhere? I think the onsies are fine. You can take cute pics of them in the onsies, maybe next to a pumpkin or something.

I was thinking the same thing. I had Miranda's old costumes on Craigslist and people snatched them up.

I was going to say that Walmart has some really cute infant costumes this year. We were just checking them out yesterday, but already bought one for DD.

You definately do not have to spend $25 each on costumes for them ! Even check the thrift stores !!
I spent $4.00 on Lexi's costume at Once Upon a Child ( brand new Little Red Riding Hood !) People but things, then change their minds...
Even just getting devil horns for J and a halo and wings for M would be adorable...
Or make them shirts that say Thing 1 & Thing 2
If it were me, I'd regret it

If it were me, I'd regret it. I'm sure there are a bunch of people here who can lend you some?
I have a Yoda costume but its 0-3 months...but it stretches...you can have it.
Or try consignment stores like someone mentioned.
I dont liek spending a lot on a one day costume either. You can always re-sell on ebay or back to the consignment store to get some money back.
Also in Todays Paper, there are coupons on the Party CIty circular for $5 off a costime less then $25.

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
A few days before Halloween and for about a week after any costumes that Old Navy has remaining get marked down to anywhere from 50% - 70% so you might want to keep an eye out for something for them...even for next year. Right now I believe they are 25%off and that's under $20 for a costume.
You only regret what you allow yourself to regret. The onesies are perfect since they will spend the majority of the day in them. If you want to dress them up you can for well under $50 and if you don't want to dress them up..that's okay too.

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
I think I would regret it, but you can do something very simple and inexpensive.
You can try Wal-Mart, Target, eBay, Craigs List - you're bound to find something and not have to spend a lot of money.
Good luck!

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
I think I would regret it. I have a superman costume DS wore last year (6-12 months) and you are more than welcome to it!!
But, you can definitely find cute costumes for less than $50, plus wasn't there a halloween costume swap thread?

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
Ok, I HATE Halloween. I really did not want to get DS anything, but I gave in to all the 1st halloween, need to take pics hype.
With that being said I went to Party city and found a costume on clearance for $9.99. It is a future tycoon costume.

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
I DID NOT get my DD a Halloween costume as she was 2 weeks old. I got her an orange onesie with a jack-o-lantern face on it, little black pants and a "babys 1st halloween' bib. She looked adorable and I don't regret it for a minute. Target carries one piece 'jumpsuits' that look like a skeleton or pumpkin. I think they are around $10. Maybe that would work better for you?
They don't need to be in a "costume" to be dressed up. Just make them festive however you want to.

The onesie is probably enough, but since you think you may regret it, I would DEF check out Once Upon A Child. I refuse to spend $$$ on a costume for DS. So last year Iw ent there & got him a pumpkin costume, tags still on for $5. This year I got him a monkey costume for $6.50! You could also do something simple, I'm sure there's great inexpensive ideas for homemade costumes.

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
I spent $4 on a onesie w/hoodie that looks like a pumpkin outfit...its the closest thing to a costume for now....I mean I know she'll be fine in it because its just a onesie w/feet and a hood....that makes her look like a pumpkin...its so freaking cute

Re: Am I going to regret not buying DC a Halloween costume? (1st halloween)
I just didn't find a costume I loved or that looked comfy. And DS is only 8 months, and we aren't going trick or treating. Just answering the door @ home.
So I bought a onesie that has halloween stuff on it, and a jack o'lantern on the butt lol. And then a Baby's 1st Halloween bib. I think it looks super cute, and it's still in the halloween spirit.
