Am I nuts? (well in this case) small update

DS comes home from school and tells me that they had a special snack today. They do this often, and most of the time it is normal stuff for a 2 yr old. Today however, he tells me that they were talking about spring, and how worms help the dirt grow flowers. Their special snack was chocolate pudding and gummy worms. Really for a 2 yr old? Now had they asked ahead of time, I probably would have not been so Chat Icon, but DS has a milk protein allergy, and I would wager that they used milk in the pudding.

I am debating on whether or not to say anything....
Small Update from post below

So I left a message with the teacher (she left for the day) and with the director. I explained that although I love how involved the children get and are encouraged to try new things, when it comes to food I would like to be notified ahead of time so that I can send in something similar but safe for my child. I also followed up with an email to that point as well. I am hoping that someone answers me this week. I have no problem with the teacher per se, and this is going to sound awful (but bear with me) but she is incredibly young and has no children. When I was at that stage I would not have thought that serving pudding & candy to kids was bad.

Certainly say something! What if your child had a reaction? What if another child was allergic to chocolate? I would definately speak up.

Even for non-allergic children, I think gummy worms can be a choking hazard. Totally inappropriate for a 2 yr old.

Yup. Say something. They should be very aware of allergies & should have thought better about it.

Yes thank you. And DS is not careful when he chews. This is what bothered me the most to be honest. Chat Icon

They know about his allergy. It is even posted in the classroom and with the nurse.

100% I would say something. They had no idea if your son could have had a reaction to the pudding. And if they served gummy worms in my 2 1/2 year olds classroom, I would be royally ****** off.

Re: Am I nuts? (well in this case)

I am so torn because I love his teacher and the aide, but a few things lately are really setitng off little alarms. I have been thinking about another school for him simply because developmentally he needs more, but incidents like this are making me want to move him all the moreChat Icon

It bothers me because he loves it there.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am putting in a call right now.

Re: Am I nuts? (well in this case)

I have choked on a gummy worm as a 12 year old. So no, I don't think you are nuts whether it be allergy or choking related. I would make it be known too.

But that is what makes it more alarming. Definitely say something or write a note (email is better though)

I would def. ask if the pudding had milk in it. If it does I would be very upset with them.
If not, then I don't think gummy worms and pudding are that bad honestly.

2 year olds should not be eating gummy worms. I would hope since they knew about his allergy that they didn't use milk or gave his without pudding. Those dirtcups usually have choc. pudding, crushed cookies, and gummy worms.

How else would pudding be made without milk? Chat Icon I would be upset and I would def. call the teacher about it.

It's possible, you can buy almost anything "allergy friendly."

You are not nuts. You are a parent that has every right to be concerned over this.

I guess I wouldn't be bothered by it but my DD doesn't have a milk allergy.
Now if my school knew my DD had a milk allergy and gave this to her anyway I would be highly upset.
I know at miranda's school they do lots of different snacks but there are some kids that only get special snacks from home at the parent's request.
