Am I on the right track. . .CIO related
I have posted in the past how my twin boys don't sleep through the night and are still in my room. This weekend we are moving them into their own room. We have a nursery set up for them but it is on the main floor and our room is upstairs. I thought I have tried CIO in the past but nothing like last night.
My boys turned 9 months today and I knew I had to really do something about this whole sleep thing. My dh is a PO and works a few nights a week. Last night when I put my boys to bed I decided I was going to be strong and attempt CIO.
They usually go to sleep fine but wake up all through the night. Marco went right to sleep but Alex started crying. I watched him through the monitor and knew he was ok. He had a clean diaper, just had a bottle, etc. He cried for 40 long min. and then conked out. They are both use to my dh or myself running right to them when they cry. I decided to sleep downstairs. At 2:05 Marco woke up and cried hard on and off until 3. I decided to go up and check on him but that made it 10x worse. He was fine, his diaper wasn't wet so I left. He continued to cry on and off until I don't even know what time. At 4am Alex woke up and began crying along w/ Marco. By this time, Alex usually would have woken up 3-4x. I think b/c he cried himself to sleep helped him sleep a long stretch. Alex cried himself back to sleep with in 20 min. and Marco continued crying. I found it a little easier to ignore the crying b/c I was in a different room and I had the monitor. At 7:30 Alex woke up. That is the latest he has ever slept on his own. I was nervous b/c I didn't hear Marco and I knew he was crying all night. The part of the crib he was in I couldn't see on the monitor. I went upstairs and he was still asleep . He woke up at 8am. Today I feel like I really accomplished something last night. Does it sound like I am on the right track? I am so nervous it is not going to work. I look forward to this evening to see what it has in store. I have to add that they both gave me 2 great naps today. I put them in their cribs and let them cry and they both slept again. I hope it's just not a fluke and they begin to sleep. This is the strongest I have ever been. I really had no choice after 9months of broken sleep I knew I needed to do something b4 going out of my mind.
For those of you who have done CIO does this sound like it is going right? TIA for your responses. I have read the book Healthy sleep habits, happy twins.

sounds like you're doing great. I never followed a specific method. I sort of made up my own. I could sort of tell when she was whiney and would possibly calm down on her own. If she was really really crying one of us would go to her usually within 5 or 10 min. (based on how she sounded). DD is 9 months and just recently started rolling over to sleep on her stomach and she sleeps much better.
Kudos to you for doing it with 2
