Am I right to be annoyed??

I called the church 2 months ago to find out when they have christening s in the month of November. Seeing that I have a sister & brother who live in Oregon & my IL's all live in Ireland I wanted to get the info right away so they can book the tickets.

Well, my husband told me yesterday that one of his sisters is not sure she can go because of ticket prices. Apparently they have doubled since I told them. I have a feeling the others are going to do this as well. If you knew you were coming why didn't you book the tickets in advaced so that they will be cheaper? This is what I told them to do in the beginning.

Another thing that bothers me is that all of his siblings were booked to go to Patricks christening (which ended up being on Sept 16, 2001 there were no flights allowed at the time) But, now for these babies they don't seem to be so intrested in coming.

Am I making mountains out of molehills here??

To me personally it seems far to travel for a christening. But I am not really religious so maybe thats why I think that. Tickets are going to be very expensive in the next few months because of jet fuel prices. Why don't you have a small ceremony and then a party later?

I kind of agree but again maybe its a religious thing. Unless I got a great deal and wanted to take a trip anyway I would not spend money or take vacation time for a christening.

Also if you don't have an exact date how would they have been able to book the tickets?

How close are you with them? My BIL is traveling from FL to be here for the baby's christening - I'd've been annoyed too if he hadn't booked when we told him the date of the christening (in advance like you did...)

Re: Am I right to be annoyed??

The day is booked. There is only one day in November that my church does the christening. The fact that they don't think twice to assume that we will drop everything & go over there. I'm sorry but, I've flown for everyone of my niece & nephews big events. And they live in Oregon which is the same distance as Ireland. and how am I to pick a Godparent if they have no intention on coming? I refuse to choose one that won't even be there for the ceremony?

Well I would probably be annoyed then since you go to all their functions and you had given them the date. Especially if they were choices for godparents.
Families can be difficult at times.

I live on the west coast and nothing would stop me from flying home to ny if my sisters had a christening for her baby.

I would definitely be pi$$ed especially since you made it a point to be at all of their functions. If they don't come.....I wouldn't go to any of there stuff then!

I would totally be annoyed too...but, don't let it ruin the day. The people who care will be there to share in this very special day.
