Just had my 2 out in it.
since josh was 11 mos old, he has spent days on top of ski mountains.
I hate sick kids...I hate germs. But, I would have them in the snow year round...the fresh air feels good.

Aww---let her play! Being out in the snow is one of those things that I LOVED as a kid.
She'll have a great time...just let her play and have some hot chocolate or something waiting for her when you bring her back inside.

Its one of the best things when you're a kid...I couldn't wait to bring my boys in the snow!
Kids get sick from germs and viruses..not from snow....obviously if they are sick with a fever you don't want them out in the snow but going in the actual snow will NOT make them sick! Let her have fun!
I hope you don't think i sound harsh...I just can't understand not letting a child get bundled up and make a snowman or play for an hour or two. She will have a BLAST!
ITA! DS just turned 18 months and spent 2 hours in the snow--we just got in! He had SOOO much fun, and was so bundled up. Imagine the kids growing up in Alaska (or even upstate, as I did!)--they're in it every day!

I read an article once that the kids in Russia have the best immune systems and are never sick BECAUSE of the cold air. It's good to go out there and have fun, the fresh air is good!

I let DD (3 and a half) play in the snow -- it's good for them!! But she is usually ready to come back in in half the time it took me to get her dressed.....

I always let my DC play out in the snow. My DS was out there last year at 18 months. Right now its very windy and the snow is above my knee, so I may wait until tomorrow - but they are begging to go out. They LOVE it. Me, I could totally do without it - I don't like it at all....but we all make sacrafices as a parent lol.
Fresh cold air is actually good as long as they aren't already sick.
Go out and PLAY!!!

That's what our plan is. Today I feel a little too cold and windy ( she is 18 months)
But tomorrow we are going out! Can't wait!!

you cant get sick from Snow... i cant stand being outside in the cold believe me but i know how important it is for them to play and experience being able to play in the snow... Let them play!!

Brought out both my boys this morning. I agree with the previous posters...they won't get sick from the snow/cold and as long as they are bundled it's a ton of fun!
My oldest only lasts a little while out there. If he's on his own with us it's no more than 15 minutes but if he's with his friends then he'll stay out for more than a half-hour.

We didn't go out last year when they were 1 because I didn't have snow gear for them, but I'm planning on bringing them out today.
Playing in the snow is such a fun thing for kids, I can't imagine not letting them.
Let her play! Then when she comes inside give her some hot soup or hot chocolate.
Same here. We will be going out b/c we have a snow suit and boots.

Really??? Geez, playing in the snow as a kid is a right of passage.  Playing in the snow won't get them sick. After they play you get them all warmed up, drink some cocoa, put on cozy clothes, and then coochie up to a good movie. I am  you live in NY and your kids have never been in the snow. That's crazy.

I think you might be the only one! Playing out in the snow is one of the best things about being a kid. I have so many memories of playing in the snow.
Especially at six years old, that is a great age. I just took DS out who is 21 months and he hated it!! Well, he really just hated the snow suit which made him miserable.

Last year I didn't because I was pregnant and Nina was still kind of little but this year I will let her. We will wait till tomorrow though, once the wind dies down and it get a little warmer.

Abby has had a cough. Jeremy is getting over bronchiolitis so no dice today!. However, this is what happened last year:
If anything, snow is good for a photo op.

My son has been in and out today. He only lasts about 10-15 minutes but I think that's b/c he doesn't have water-proof gloves (think I left them at daycare).

You don't get sick from snow or the cold...you get sick from germs! The cold is actually a good thing to be exposed to because it kills germs!

Honestly, I can't imagine NOT letting my kids play in the snow. If not now, when? Sure its a PITA getting them bundled and unbundled, but the pure joy on their faces is all worth it. DS gets sick from being at school, not from playing in the snow  Let her out! Let her out! Let her out!
