Amazon Echo - anyone have?
DH LOVES electronics. Whatever is coming out that's new he has to have. So, wasn't too surprised when an amazon package came and it was the Amazon Echo.
So far we've used it to play music. DH has changed a majority of the light switches to those smart wifi switches so he can control it with the phone so he said he can connect it to Alexa and just have her turn on and off the lights. To me it's no big deal. Other than a few questions and music is it really that great?

I have one too. I liked the idea of it but I need to set it up to do more. You can use it to remind yourself to order stuff, you can actually order refills of typical items just via voice etc. It is a nice "toy" but you need to spend some time to set it up if you want it to be more.

Being techie, i thought it was cool when announced, open the box and used it. it was cute, then as they keep announcing new features weekly, its one of the most used devices in the house. It can do calendar, shopping list, games, music, news, time, weather, questions. DD loves the jokes. You can always return it.
You can also pair it with bluetooth device and use it as a speaker. BTW, its a nice quality speaker.
I question the high price to some degree but i got it at 99 bucks when it was first annouce being prime. Had to wait 2 months for it to ship.

My parents have it so I like to have fun adding things to their shopping and to do lists when they're not listening lol.

Re: Amazon Echo - anyone have?
We have it. I also got it when it was on presale to Prime members for $99 so I bought it for DH's birthday since he's Mr. Techie. It's a fun little gadget. We use it for music, we have it connected to our A/C's and lights so we can tell "her" to turn them on and off, and DH listens to his news every night on it. I also like it to tell me the weather I probably wouldn't pay the $200 pricetag for it, but since I was able to get it at a good discount I went ahead with it.
ETA: I also like using it for the shopping list, especially with the little remote that we keep in the kitchen when I notice things I need from the supermarket
