American Girl Place in NYC?
Has anyone taken their DD to American Girl Place? What age is it appropriate for? My DD is turning 4 soon, and I was trying think of something special to do with her for her birthday.
TIA!

Re: American Girl Place in NYC?
I've never taken my DD but she's not 4 yet. I think that would be a good age - that's probably the youngest I would consider it though. I was just looking at their website and the Cafe Birthday option is listed as good for ages 3 and up. American Girl Store
ETA: Let me know how it is if you go. I may take Elizabeth there for her birthday this year. She has the Elizabeth doll and a Bitty Baby.. I swear I think my MIL ran out and started buying them the day DD was born, because her girls were HUGE American Girl fans when they were small.

Re: American Girl Place in NYC?
My older DD went to a fifth b-day party there last summer. She had so much fun. And I know they do the lunches too. I think it would be fun for a four year old as well.
BUT...I personally would not buy a regular American Girl doll for MY four year old. Aren't they like $75-100? I'm waiting until we read the books (we've started now and the girls are 4 and almost 6) and they can choose which one they like the best. Maybe Christmas for my older one? ETA...of course if your DD is going to take good care of it, etc. that's awesome! Mine would not!

Re: American Girl Place in NYC?
We have been several times. Adorable and my child loves it! We went this past year on her actual birthday and booked the birthday party package. It works out to be a few bucks more than just having lunch (or dinner, etc.), and she will get some goodies, an adorable birthday cake and everyone sings to her. You can book that add on for as little as two people...you don't need to be having an actual party.
We also have four American Girl dolls.....2 Bitty Twins, a Bitty Baby and Kanani, which she picked for her birthday (the normal sized doll). I would absolutely NOT keep buying them if she didn't play with them. She absolutely adores them though, and they have held up very well, compared to the other cheapie dolls who have missing eyelids, mangled hair, etc. The Bitty Twins are the least expensive of them, and you can just buy 1 if you want to, you don't have to buy the pair. You can also find really cute food and clothing on Etsy or resells on ebay.

I loved it! We went for my niece's 6th birthday party. I want to go back but unfortunately wasn't asked to go with them last year. Perhaps if they do it again this year I can go.
