American Inventor - Anecia
Has anyone been watching this -- the carseat that flips around during impact? I just couldn't imagine putting my child in a carseat that spins around -- and how sensitive would it be? Would the baby be flipping around whenever you stopped short?
Any ideas? Image Attachment(s):

Looks very strange. I dont think its good for a baby to be moving and flipping around that much.

I absolutely LOVE this idea. Don't know if it will truly work but I think flipping around in an accident is way better than getting slammed back and forth.
I don't really watch shows like American Idol etc but I started watching American Inventor and actually voted 5x for this car seat last night.
P.S. Did you see that baby in the commercial last night? Soooooooooooooo frickin cute!!!!
ETA...I also wonder how sensitive it would be for stopping short But I guess it would be just like in the womb which is what the inventor was trying to mimick.

yes the baby was adorable and i think it is such a strange idea but if it does work then it would be an amazing thing! i definately think this guy should win because his invention could potentially have the biggest impact -- but it still just seems so WEIRD to me!

How sad about his baby....I can't even think about it.
My sister put Sidney in her car seat yesterday and when I got home to take her out I noticed one of the buckles never "clicked" so she was not secure in there at all!!!!
I learned my lesson....always double and triple check

Looks very uncomfortable what happens when they get tall where do the legs go and how the heck doesthat get installed into the car. It looks very big and bulky so you will only be able to have one in the back seat and nothing else. Also if it flips around the child can get whiplash if it flips to quick
I didn't watch the show so I haven't seen it in action.

Re: American Inventor - Anecia
I think it must only be an infant seat because it would have to be HUGE to work for an older child, and the thing is already gigantic to begin with!
my worry also is that Emily is always hanging her arms out of her seat --- grabbing things, throwing toys out of the seat, etc. so i'd think it would have to be used specifically with very small children.

okay -- i'm reading more about it on a television formum that my husband goes to and it's only good until about 7 months because of the size -- the projected cost would be about $300 but they are going to try and have a leasing program so you can rent them and not buy.

Re: American Inventor - Anecia
I think it's an absolutely brilliant idea. I really don't think there would be any danger of whiplash in a minor accident, and truthfully, I'd rather have a little whiplash in a more serious accident than the alternative. I'm sure the design needs to be tweeked a little so it doesn't move quite as much as it does in the prototype, but if they do sufficient crash testing down the line to make sure its safe, I would buy it in a heartbeat for my next little one...

I am almost positive you can't sell a car seat until it mets federal regulations. This probably has to go thru a ton of testing on the gov't side before anyone can buy it.

Re: American Inventor - Anecia
what kind of invention is that
All I can picture in my head is a very dizzy baby, possibly whip lash from spinning so fast r/t the impact and possible VOMIT every where each time you stop short
I almost looks like the "Tea Cup" you see at a amusement park

Re: American Inventor - Anecia
When they showed them testing it, they were tyring to make it so it did not spin SO fast, and only spun a limited amount of times.
I think its an awesome idea...
