Amy Fisher
I checked, so I hope this wasn't posted already
And, I don't believe her for a second Why would this just come out now?
Newsday
Fourteen years after she fired a bullet into the face of her lover's wife, Amy Fisher now says she was heavily using ectasy on the day of the murder attempt.
In interviews airing tonight, Fisher, 31, told "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" that she was using "a lot of ectasy" when she showed up at the Massapequa house of auto mechanic Joey Buttafuoco, and shot his wife Mary Jo with a .25-caliber pistol, according to a report this morning in the New York Post.
"It made me feel stronger and confident," Fisher told "The Insider."
"I was disconnected with myself. ... When you are using drugs, and I was partying, drinking with my friends, you don't remember. The reason I was doing these things was because I had unhappiness in my life."
Fisher said she was high at the time of the attack, but is able to remember the details, the Post reported.
"Yeah, and I remember she said I said certain things," Fisher said. "I could drive, I could go to school. I had built up such a tolerance to it, I could function."
A police officer who was part of the investigation said there was no evidence that suggested Fisher was using drugs when she shot Buttafuoco.
"There was none of that in the investigation at all," retired Nassau County Detective Dan Sererin told The Post.
"She never once claimed that at all in her statements to police and neither did any of the witnesses. It was never mentioned by any of her lawyers either."
Fisher served seven years in prison and was released in 1999. Since then, she's changed her name, is a married mother of two and lives in Suffolk County. Joey Buttafuoco, now 49, has also remarried and lives in Southern California. Mary Jo Buttafuoco, 50, is reportedly engaged to be married.

Re: Amy Fisher
I don't sympathize w/ her but she was so young and so stupid. She was in love with an older man who used her. I think she made that huge mistake and she learned from it. Mary Jo pi$$ed me off for taking his azz back!

All things aside...what I don;t understand is that if she went through all the trouble to change her name and move on...why come out and identify who she is? Why is she doing that?

Re: Amy Fisher
My reaction to this is - does it really even matter at this point? She did her time, she is married with a child, isn't it time to move on? I think perhaps she just keeps giving reporters things to say to sell her book, or to get paid for appearances.

I agree. She is trying to stretch out the fame as long as possible.

Re: Amy Fisher
I do not believe that she has any remorse. The hero in this story is Mary Jo, who forgave her, despite the fact that she has not shown true remorse.

Ugh I totally agree. Did anyone hear her on Howard Stern a couple of months ago? It was one of the most frustrating things ever to listen to. She was insinuating all this drug stuff, like she had no idea what she was doing when she shot her, etc. But Howard and Artie were like yeah but you went up to someone and shot them point blank in the face, c'mon! She kept saying she wants to move on move on move on, but you're right, this is all for a book deal and whatever else she can make money off of. It's really a shame how people can benefit off their crimes. Get this, don't quote me but I remember on the show she said she would be into doing a reality show where she lived in a house w/ Mary Jo and Joey. You believe that? They are also working on some big TV program where they'll meet face to face and discuss all of this or something.
Sorry for rambling, but I find it so frustrating.

Seriously. Didn't she even get plastic surgery to her face so she would be less recognized? She has serious issues.

Re: Amy Fisher
I agree with all the points above. Why fo through so much trouble to hide your identity and move on, only to do anything to get back in the spotlight. WHO CARES? Like no one cares anymore, whch is probably exactly why she's doing it. AND if she really was on drugs, wouldn't that have come out in the trial, or at least sooner?

Re: Amy Fisher
What made me more ill is the way that POS DA Fred Klein was molly-coddling her throughout the whole trial. He did everything short of giving her a damn cupcake...maybe she was giving him happys and that's why she got off with a slap on the wrist?
Sorry if I sound bitter folks but she came from my hometown and I had a few friends who were "close" to her and the real deal was that she was an overpriviledged piece of garbage that was used to getting her way and knew how to manipulate things to her advantage.

just did, and found this:
Hallucinogens
The incidence of hallucinogen use has exhibited two notable periods of increase. Between 1965 and 1969, there was a tenfold increase in the estimated annual number of initiates. This increase was driven primarily by the use of LSD. The second period of increase in first-time hallucinogen use occurred from around 1992 until 2000, fueled mainly by increases in use of Ecstasy (i.e., MDMA) (Figure 5.2). Decreases in initiation of both LSD and Ecstasy were evident between 2001 and 2002, coinciding with an overall drop in hallucinogen incidence from 1.6 million to 1.1 million.
Initiation of Ecstasy use increased from 1993 until 2001, when it peaked at 1.8 million new users. In 2002, the number declined to 1.1 million. Two thirds (66 percent) of new Ecstasy users in 2002 were 18 or older, and 50 percent were male.
