An almost 2 yr old, The Art of Bargaining, and How it Backfired (edited to add pics)
So now that Jake is working on mastering going up and down stairs like a big boy i.e. holding on to the "waiwing", he constantly wants to practice. Obviously, this is not a fun pastime for Mommy & Daddy for many reasons, not the least of which is that he likes to inch up to the very edge of a stair until his little toes juuuust hang over a bit, then lean forward with a big mischievous smile and say "I fall!" so that he can get a big kick out of the look of panic on Mommy's (or Daddy's) face.
He stands at the gate at the top of the stairs and says "Downstairs?" If you say no, a noisy protest begins, followed by a quick change back to his "sweet voice" and again - "Downstairs?"
So the other day, Daddy says, after saying no to several "downstairs?" requests, "Ok, IF you give me a hug, THEN we can go downstairs."
Jake immediately runs over, gives Daddy a big hug and they go up and down the stairs for a half hour. Daddy is proud of himself because he thinks HE just got HIS way.
Fast forward a few days. I am standing near the top of the stairs having a conversation with DH, ignoring whatever it is that Jake is saying at the moment when I suddenly feel chubby little arms wrap around my leg. I look down and say "Awww, did you see that - he just gave me a hug out of nowhere!" Yeah right.
He runs back to the gate. "Downstairs?" I stay silent. He runs back to me and throws his arms around me. Runs back to the gate and...yep, you guessed it - "Downstairs?"
Now HOW was I supposed to say no to that?
Great job Daddy - you taught our son the concept of bargaining to get what you want... the whole if/then thing.
Next time, make it work in OUR favor.
So as not to disappoint Marissa Here are some recent pics:
At the infamous gate:
The Mischievous Smile:
And two other random shots:
"No YOU put on the sunglasses"
"I SWEAR I was coloring on the PAPER!"

How cute! He's so grown up and has changed so much. When did he get curly hair?

I know - he needs a haircut pretty badly I meant to take him this weekend (third w/e in a row I've planned to get it done!) but he got sick.
His hair started to get curly just before he turn a year. It was really curly for awhile and now it seems to be losing some curl again - weird!

Honestly - he doesn't look like either one of us right now if you ask me! But alot of people are saying he looks more and more like DH everyday. I see it more now too.

Nah...it hasn't really changed except from when he was a newborn...I think it was much darker when he was first born. What happens is that it always comes out different in pics depending on the lighting... sometimes darker, sometimes lighter.
