an introduction and a question
Hi ladies! I've been lurking around for quite some time and wanted to come out of hiding. I've been reading all the personal stories, successes and sadness and have huge admiration for all of you. I have a daughter who is almost 2 and we've been ttc since October. I have PCOS and my daughter was conceived using Clomid. We've been through several cycles of just monitoring with Clomid and 2 IUIS. This past month, I was bumped up to 150 mg of Clomid and we tried on our own. I got a BFP last week and had my beta tested at the RE on Saturday. My level was 27.5 and progesterone 8.6. I'm on the progesterone suppositories, which I used with my daughter as well. I went for blood work this morning and my beta came back as 12. I figured the pregnancy was ending but I still feel pregnant. Sore boobs, etc. I just took another ClearBlue Easy digital test and it came back positive. From what I can gather online, Clearblue Easy's minimum hcg it detects is 50. So-here's my question: Is it possible that the levels can go back up? I never really heard of it happening but figured I'd ask. Maybe the lab botched my results? I just don't know what to think. Any opinions? Thanks for listening...now that I'm out of the lurking closet, I'll be posting more here!

Re: an introduction and a question
I would definitely call your Dr. about this. You could have an ectopic pregnancy, not to scare you, and that would explain the fluctuating HCG levels and symptoms. You want to address this asap as, if it is ectopic, there is medication you can take which would "dissolve" the pregnancy. If you wait too long, you may end up in a lot of pain and have a tube removed. Sorry to scare you, but this is really important.

Re: an introduction and a question
I agree call your MD. That should not happen in a normal pregnancy, and scary as it is lab errors happen. definately call the MD. You should be having another beta anyway to make sure your levels keep going down if indeed it is a chemical.
Good luck!

I agree with Pauline and Gerty. You should definitely call your doctor. Like Gerty said, it could be an ectopic or it could be a chemical. But I think its something you definitely need to speak with your doctor about.
Just wanted to say welcome and good luck.

Re: an introduction and a question
Thanks guys... I got a BFN this morning so I called my dr. They think it's just that the levels are taking a long time to drop. I thought it might be an ectopic as well but whatever it is, it seems to be taking care of itself. I go back to the RE on Thursday for a sono and bloodwork and then it's back to the drawing board. Thanks for listening and lots of baby dust to you all!

Re: an introduction and a question
Actually this has happened to me twice and this was a normal m/c not an eptopic. My levels went from the 50's to the 70's. I finally had to get methotrexate to make my levels go down.
