anyone else up for the challenge?
Do you have children? Do you have a family? Do you have a job? Be prepared to have all of these people look at you like a lunatic...and be prepared to see them less often...

Its funny - cause I was thinking of doing that too.
We were there this year for it - and even though we didn't see any of it - I was moved by it - and I am thinking about it.
Christina - how would you even begin to train? I am kind of interested - but let me tell you, I am sooooooo out of shape.

I've been there for it twice and my friend ran it this year. He's really in shape though..I'm reeeeeeallly not. And I hate running. it bores me. I used to play soccer and softball and running during a game is fine, but running for the sake of running makes me want t drive aspork through my head, so it would be a big discipline thing for me

Yes, the training is extremely time-consuming... but it can be done! No, I haven't personally done it, but I've been married to it.
My DH has run several marathons and the training has never negatively impacted our relationship... but I had to be understanding of how much time he needed to dedicate to training. I can easily see how many people might find this to be a problem. (Luckily, I had my own time-consuming hobby at the time...)
Is it time consuming? Yes... but it can be done if you are good with time management and have people who understand and support you. It will change your schedule and your lifestyle for a while, though!
That said, don't be afraid of it - Just be prepared for it! I'm sure the women who have run marathons themselves can help prepare you for the pressures that will be on you... I just know that you have to prepare your family and loved ones for the time you'll need to dedicate to training!
You have to be REALLY committed, not only to the marathon training, but to also keeping up with the rest of your life while you do it. You lose a lot of "me time" in the process, unless you count your running as me time.
If you've never done it before, consider working with Team in Training!
Good luck!
I've always wanted to do it, but... with my foot problem, along with bad knees and 2 old fractures in my back, I might be on the elliptical forever.
I'll happily come cheer you on!!

Re: An LIF Challenge....
DO IT! it is the BEST experience! hard...yes but TOTALLY worth it. i have done 4 NYC marathons and i would give anything to be in the shape to do it again. i plan on doing it again once i am done having babies! sometimes these things are better doing it by yourself. well, for me anyway! you will never regret the few months of training once you have had that experience. i could go on and on! i hope you decide to do it and if you need any "help" or support let me know! good luck!
