An Update - things look GOOD!
We have comforting news - our wonderful, Saint of a seller is signing the paperwork to extend our contract so that we can get another mortgage from a different lending institution. Her lawyer actually felt bad for us considering the INORDINATE amount of time it took Wells to do ANYTHING and then to do everything, give us a commitment, and then pull the plug over something so minor - and something so many people consider to be ridiculous - was unfair.
So, that was wonderful - what a relief after a few sleepless nights. We were able to go out last night to dinner with Melissa and Pete and celebrate my birthday - and actually ENJOY celebrating!
Right before we left to go to dinner with them our new mortgage person called and told me, 'do not worry about a thing, everything is fine, I will have your new commitment by Monday, enjoy the weekend'
WHAT A RELIEF to have someone who actually WORKS on your file! 
Thanks, everyone, for the support - I appreciate it!
A few more weeks but I think we're going to be OK.

Im glad u were able to find a company that makes u happy! Im sorry u had such a bad experience with wells. We used them for our 1st home (we did VA loan- dont know if that changes nething) but we went into cotract in febuary and closed end of march. But everyone is different at each office.
I hope ur new experience is better and Good luck on ur home!

We lucked out b/c the rate was the same.
Robert Gottlieb at RG Mortgage.
He is the owner.
I told Vin this morning - at this point, we could get the mortgage from Alex Trebec for all I care LOL!
And yeah, Wells: awful.
We may have had a better experience with someone different at that company but the group we were working with was a nightmare.
