and just when I thought it couldn't get worse...

my head cold, has turned into a pretty severe sinus infection
I couldn't breathe out of my nose all day yesterday, and I was really nervous about sleeping b/c I'm not a mouth breather.
Sat awake in bed till 1AM...took a HOT shower, (mainly just breating in the steam)...finally one nostril opened!
didn't fall asleep till 3AM...and just woke up at 7AM completely stuffed up again.

This must be some doozy...the tylenol isn't helping at all...and no matter how much I blow my nose, nada...no relief....I think I might have to break down and call the dr for antibiotics. My nose is sooo raw from blowing it and I desperately need sleep.


and Ladies, I know the past few days all I have done is complain, I promise I am not a whinner, I've just never felt so miserable and I do appreciate everyone being supportive and understanding. After this I'm looking forward to my regular happy self

I hear you loud and clear!! I was so sick stuffed up nose, clogged ears cough! My ears were so bad the ENT had to put a tube in one of my ears! But whatever i feel like the only think I do is complain also! Just rest drink lots of fluid and rest rest rest but if you feel that bad call your Dr. Feel better!

get some tylenol cold, have your hubby go out and buy a humidifier, and put some vicks on your feet and cover them with sockies!!!!!!!

i had a repulsive cold too..... doc didn't want to give me antibiotics unless he really had to.

he told me to try to deal as much as i possibly could b4 the antibiotics.... i like that in him - he doesn't like to give them unless he ABSOLUTELY has to.

If it is a sinus infection, which it sounds like, it will not get better without antibiotics. I just had the same thing & went to the doctor & was prescribed antibiotics which were a category B & completely safe for the baby. I was also prescribed RhinoCort, which is also a category B & completely safe for the baby. I also was hesitant to go to the doctor & didn't want to take anything, but I'm glad I did. Within one day I was feeling soooooo much better. The RhinoCort is also good to have on hand because it really helps with congestion & sinus problems which can occur throughout the entire pregnancy. I know my doctor would never give me anything that could harm the baby in anyway & I also checked both prescriptions out on safefetus.com. I hope you feel better & I would really consider going to the doctor.

A sinus infection can get better without antibiotics, it just takes a little longer. Trust me I've had a few so far this pregnancy and haven't taken anything stronger then tylenol. I would suggest vicks, a humidifier, and plenty of fluids and rest. You should probably go to your doctor if you are this miserable though.

I had a wicked sinus infection back in October (the day I got my BFP was when I got sick )!

And I just had another in the beginnning of the month.


A warm steam vaporizer is the trick for me!!!! It's like a constant hot shower blowing over my face!!

keep drinking hot liquids and eating soup...

what about giving vic vapo rub a shot? It may help clear up your sinuses while you try to sleep

Oh I am so sorry!! I would try the Vicks Vapo Rub. I also took Benadryl when I had an awful sinus cold and it seemed to help a bit (at least it let me get a few hours of sleep at night). I would try a humidifier too!! Take care of yourself and make sure you still drink lots of liquids and EAT!!!

Thanks for the suggestions...after I posted I took another HOT shower and let the steam go to work. Once a nostril opened up I went back to bed, just woke up
I feel better that I slept, well my body does...my head hurts a bit and I'm still stuffy.
I told DH that he will probably have to pick me up a humidifier...I have a OB appt tomorrow for my 1st sono so I want to try and ride this wave till at least then. I'm also going to have him get me the vapor rub.

What does putting it on your feet do? I've never heard of that

I have had a bad cold too for the past few days..I know how you feel, only on a low cold/sniffle scale
I hope you feel better and I just took a hot shower, AHHH I can breath again! At least for a little while, can you use vicks? I know my Dr. told me to take Robitussin DM, but I am leary on taking anything...Feel better soon!!

Yes, I was taking Robitussin DM, which helped break up everything in my chest...which feels better now....but my head...
My Dr. told me for congestion I could take tylenol sinus...and that wasn't helping with my stuffed nose...I'm gonna try the vicks
