And the MRI results are in...
I officially have "one of the 3 worst disc ruptures" my Dr. has ever seen.
The good news is, SEEING what the disc looks like pressing against my nerve actually made me feel better. Sometimes when you're in this much pain, you start to wonder if it's "all in your head" or if you should be able to "tough it out". There it was in plain sight on the film--my nerve was compressed to a mere 20% of the normal amount of space it should be taking up in my spinal column.
The bad news is, they're STILL not willing to touch me until after the baby is born. That really kinda sucks when you're in SO much pain. I want to do what's best for the baby, but this kind of pain really wears on me mentally and emotionally.
As soon as I get a copy of the films, I will post the picture. It's really something to see.
I am officially out on disability until February, which will be about 8 weeks after the baby is born.

Re: And the MRI results are in...
but you already knew it was something bad.... I wonder if they could do something to at least stabilize your back (traction of some sort?) to ease the pain until your baby is born?
I'm glad you now know the extent of the problem... it definitely is gratifying to know at least WHERE the pain's coming from!
I should add your spinal cord is that compressed... holy moly It's a miracle you're as functional as you ARE!
you are truly super mom.

I am glad you have answers. I completely understand about starting to think it's in your head. I'm in the same boat pain wise but I have no answers. I know it seems far away but your little girl will be here before you know it and then you can hopefully have surgery and feel as good as new.

You were on my mind today. AT least you know it is not in your head. I wish there was something I could do to take your pain away. Like the OP mentioned, your little girl will be here before you know it.

I am so sorry that your injury is so bad, I guess at least you can take comfort in knowing there is a good reason behind all of your pain and suffereing!
I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes as somooth as it can and that you are able to fix the problem quickly and move on from this and enjoy your little one!

Re: And the MRI results are in...
awww, Beth. Well thank goodness you offically know what it is and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Only a couple of more months. Due you have access to a pool still? I know that offered you some relief and now that you're on dissability, could you go to the pool once a day to ease the pain?

So glad that you got the hard evidence that shows just how dire your situation is! I pray that the rest of your weeks go by as uneventful as possible... at the very least without additional pain! Hang in there mama.
