Andrew has started crying when I drop him off...
in the morning's now.
How do you do it?
No small talk and in and out.
Will that help? I tend to talk a bit then leave.

Re: Andrew has started crying when I drop him off...
We usually talk to DS as we are getting him out of the car. We tell him he's going to see Ms. XXX and all his friends and how he's going to have a fun day. That Daddy will pick him up later and take him home. When we get inside, I take his coat off, give him a kiss and say have a nice day. It sounds odd, but when we started doing that he stopped crying.

I usually talk to him all the way to the babysitter's car and then tell him that Daddy is coming to get him late, give him a kiss and tell him that mommy will see you later.

Awww..Ryan watched me leave today (which he never does) it made me sad I prefer when he doesn't notice. He wasn't upset or anything but I am afraid when/if this happens it will kill me!

I do the norm, take him in, take his coat off, point him in the direction of his room...he cries, but as soon as he sees a keyworker or a toy that he likes, he stops. its amazing!

It may be his age. DD is 7 months old and just started doing this. I read that it is actually a good sign that he has formed a strong and healthy attachment to you. Its supposed to get better.

Don't feel bad I think it's worse when they turn and say "Bye Mama" and then cry when you pick them up because they don't want to leave

Get him interested in something and then bail. Kids at this age DO NOT like transition so you have to do what you can to leave without making big deal about leaving. Just leave while he is playing or visiting a friend.
