Re: Angel care monitor vs summer infant vidwo monitor??
i have the summer. besides the signal going out once in awhile, im happy with it.
for me...i couldnt do the angel care monitor...it would make me nuts with its false positives. my BFF has quads and they each have one in their crib. granted they were born at 30 weeks so for him he needed it. but now at 7 months he still uses it and he is completely dependent on it. it goes off all the time because they roll around and he has to constantly adjust it. but he wont take it off cause he's afraid of the one day he'll need it.

Re: Angel care monitor vs summer infant vidwo monitor??
I had both when DS was born and ended up returning the AngelCare within a week. It's kind of pointless to me because you can only use it for at most the first year or so and also it drove me nuts because its this little square and if DS rolled off of it and it couldnt detect him the alarm would go off. If I forgot to turn it off before picking him up out of the crib it would set the alarm off. I felt like the alarm was just always sounding. False alarms all the time...just scared the cr@p out of me instead of easing my mind.
The Summer Infant monitor I have had since day 1. DS is now 2 years old and I dont plan on retiring that thing any time soon It's great because I can see and hear everything. I know what he's doing, if he's fallen asleep yet, I can see if maybe he fell asleep with the blanket on his face (so I can sneak in and uncover him), if he cries I can look and see if he really needs me or if he's just trying to get attention. I LOVE this monitor. It rarely ever loses signal and it has great picture and easy to carry around. The hand held part holds a long charge too if you unplug it.
I'll tell you...its been a lifesaver at times. One night I was in the basement after I put DS to bed and had the sound low on the monitor. Sounded like DS was coughing. Normally I would think nothing of it. He was silent after he coughed. I glaced over at the screen on the monitor and saw DS hunched over gagging. He was throwing up so much that he couldnt breathe. Had I not had the video monitor I would have NEVER known and just thought he had a slight cough and ignored it. I ran upstairs to him immediately...good thing I did because he was choking on his own throw up. Gross, I know...but my point is, I'd take the video monitor anyday over the angelcare.

Re: Angel care monitor vs summer infant vidwo monitor??
So I guess that you don't want to hear that I have both, haha. I couldn't decide! Luckily I borrowed an Angelcare from a friend, but I have to say I love them both. I use the angelcare mostly at night (she doesn't nap in her crib yet). I have only had one false alarm. I'm incredibly neurotic so I feel like without the angelcare I would be constantly checking her and I'd basically not sleep. That said, I don't use the video much right now because if she's whining I pick her up, but I could see it being useful if we have to do CIO to make sure she's crying only because she wants us.

Of course I want to hear all opinions. I started putting DS on his belly to sleep and so I wanted the angelcare but maybe ill get both._

I have both and love both but I'm a nut oand I need the reassurance of the both the ticking while she breathes and seeing her. If I had to choose one I'd choose the angelcare monitor.

Re: Angel care monitor vs summer infant vidwo monitor??
I have the summer infant video for DD and so far I have no complaints about it. We have been using it for the past 5 weeks and other than that it does sometimes interferes with our wireless connection, so far it's been good.
