Re: summer infant monitor problem
if you have it plugged in too long it can damage the battery...call them up and tell them you just got it...they will ask you how long you had it plugged in for...I think the directions say no more than 10 hrs (or something like that)...tell them you didn't exceed that time, and they will send you a new one!!! They have great customer service!

I have pressed the button on the top..it works when its plugged in but if I unplug it it goes out right away to static (no video and no audio)
I charged it for awhile the first time I turned it on (it might have been more than 10 hours but I cant imagine that one time killed the battery)..then had it unplugged for a long time and turned it on probably twice for naps and then I tried to use it a few days ago and it would only work if it was plugged in. I figured that it just lost its charge so I left it plugged in for about 2 hours but it still wont work. So now it only works when plugged in. argh Im guessing I need to get a replacement battery but I dont have the receipt since I got it as a shower gift. Do you think summer will replace it for me without a receipt?

Yes, I didn't have a receipt either...they will just ask for the code on the back of the monitor.

Re: summer infant monitor problem
Jenise as long as it's under a year old they will replace the battery for free. Just call, they will ask for the color and monitor number and send you one right away. Their customer service is fantastic.
The best way to keep that from happening again is to let the battery totally drain every day and charge it overnight, but not for more than 8 hours (got that advice from customer service themselves )
HTH!

So did I and they took it back without a box...they just had to keep the box when they gave me the new one. They weren;t happy but they did it.
Another option is to buy another one..switch it and return the broken one in the new box (I mean I know that is a little sneaky but these things should not be breaking so easily and they are $$$$). I would tell them it is broken too this way they don't put it back on the shelf and send it back to the company!
