announcement! (sorry, kind of long)
I am a regular on this board, yet have been pretty quiet about my own house-hunting, so let me try to sum it up as briefly as possible.
We began looking at open houses last July or August (I can't even remember at this point.) we went almost every weekend and were very disheartened by what we were finding in our price range. We kept going and in October we found an awesome RE agent ( ) who very quickly found us a house we really liked. Our offer was accepted, we signed the contract, and then found out our seller and their attorney were crazy and long story short, the deal fell through. We were disheartened, but kept looking, we saw a bunch more houses and put in some more offers but nothing was working out. We were so frustrated at this point, we gave up and took a break.
During this "break" I got my RE license and now was able to represent myself. So the search began again. We saw so many houses I don't even know what the number is. We put in two more offers and were rejected. We were about ready to throw in the towel when we decided to look in a different area.
On that first day we in the different area, we found a house we loved. It turns out the house wasn't even being shown yet, but the RE office had made a mistake when we called about it. The owner happened to be there the same time as us and let us in. We knew that this house was meant to be.
Offer was accepted, contracts were signed, and I am happy to announce we will be closing this Wednesday at 2pm.
So even though I have been really quiet throughout this VERY long process, some of you might have guessed from some of my posts here and there, but now I am out of the "buying a home" closet, LOL, and nervous but really excited about finally becoming a homeowner.

Thanks everyone!!
The house is in Centereach. I will take pics on Wed. when we get in there, but they will all be "before" pics, we have a LOT of work to do!! The siding is finished and ready to go.
Yes the bank lost our paperwork, last week was crazy. The kicker was when I called the undewriter myself who said she couldn't talk to me, its their policy to only deal with mortgage brokers!
