Another ?..8 months and no rolling..doc wants to send us to EI

Now, ds in my eyes is just lazy. He's spent a lot of time on his belly, and when he's had enough, he just puts his whole face down, but hasn't ever rolled over, either way. He's 8 months exactly, and 19.11 oz. Doc said if he doesn't roll over within 10 days he might recommend early intervention, to rule out anything physical. But ds sits perfectly fine on his own, and even stands supported. I didn't know rolling over was such a big deal! But he said at this age babies should be rolling over, but he's not concerned really. Just wants to rule things out. Should i be concerned?

we had hannah evaluated around that time due to the same reason.

in my opinion, it was better to rule something out than to wait. ei is free and confidential, so it really cant hurt to get an eval.

ultimately hannah did not qualify, and seriously, the next day she rolled over!

Here is the way I look at it. You were probably concerned he wasnt rolling over to begin with. The EI evaluation will only help ease any worries you may have. The fact that he is sitting up and standing are pretty good signs that things are OK.

It sounds as if he probably is okay and just doesn't like rolling, but I would go for EI testing. I think it's free, and best to rule out any problems now. Plus, if there are no problems, you can rest easy.

I did the opposite of what my Ped said.. she thought that both of my DS were tripoding fine.. but in my gut i knew that something was not right. One was rolling over and the other was not at all and neither of them could sit up assisted. I just started their PT last week they are going to be year in 2 weeks. Just take the evaluation it is free and see what come from it..
