another baptism ?

when do people normally baptize their child? i'm due july 2nd and was wondering when would be the normal time we should do this? we're going to florida in late october so we can't do it around then. should we just wait until the spring time when DS is around 7-8 months? or is that old?

Re: another baptism ?

It all depends on you. With DS we baptized him when he was 2 months old. This time, DD will probably not be baptized until she is 6-7 months old. My sister did not baptized my nephew until he was a year old.

Re: another baptism ?

It's all your personal choice. With my DD we had her baptised at a little over 9 months.
This time i'm due in June so i'm hoping to do it at about 2-3 months.

Re: another baptism ?

I would say sooner is better. Probably Sept. We baptized DS at 2 1/2 months and for this little one it will most likely be 3 1/2 months (we are waiting for warmer weather so that we can have the celebration outside instead of at a place).

Re: another baptism ?

My church says that they usually baptie babies between 3 and 6 months, of course this age range isn't a requirement, just what they see most.

Re: another baptism ?

I am due the end of August & was originally going to Baptize the baby in October but we just found out my SIL is due in October (she is the godmother). Since they live OOT & the majority of my family too, we will wait until either December or April....I am pushing for the later just so we can have the celebration outside our house.

Re: another baptism ?

This is a personal preference thing. Some families have traditions and some have certain timelines.

I am due June 20th and my baby will be baptised on August 2nd.

Re: another baptism ?

Both nmy babies were just shy of 3 months. I wanted them done early because they needed to fit into the gown I wore when I was Baptised.

Re: another baptism ?

its all personal preference. but my family believes you should have the baby baptized asap...because just in case anything were to happen you'd want to make sure the baby is allowed into heaven.Chat Icon

so for us, im due first week of october so it'll probably be late november early december.

Re: another baptism ?

I'm due in August and we'll be doing the baptism in February-ish. So, around 6 months old. We would have liked to do it earlier (around 3 months) but we need to wait for DH to be allowed his deployment leave, and its probably not going to be until our little one is around 6 months.

Re: another baptism ?

i am due two days after you. i have to call the church and see, but i would like to do it by the end of the summer if possible. call me crazy, but i want my baby baptized as soon as possible...it's really important to me.

me and all my siblings were baptized within a month of birth, but i think that's just how our culture and family is... you do it right away.

i would say though most babies are baptized between 3-5 months. i would call your church, they may have a timeline that you have to follow based on the size of the parish and how many babies that need to be baptized.

Re: another baptism ?

I'm due July 4th and therefore thinking some time in September.

Both my other kids were 4 months when we baptised them. They were February babies so we wanted the Summer and therefore they were baptised in June.

We have the parties at our house so we want the best weather.

I think the most common is about 3 months. We did DS's at 6 months though.
