We are planning on getting our little bundle baptized but i was just curious...
DH is Catholic and I'm Jewish...does that matter to the church, will it cause me any problems?

Re: another baptism question

It also depends on what religion your baptising your child in. Most catholic churches today will baptise your child if only one of you is catholic as long as the god parents are catholic.
But then again every church is different and you have to check with yours.
8 years ago with my DD they wouldn't think of baptising her in the chuch since I'm protestant and he's catholic. So we had a minister baptise her outside of the church at a local beach. Now as i'm looking for this baby, the new minister in the church has no problem baptising our child. Go figure.

To be honest with you the most you might have to do is pay the chuch more $$(in the form of a donation) for the class before the baptism, to say that your planning on raising your child in this faith. But it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: another baptism question

In my church it does not matter if one parent is a diffrent religion. Basically they just want to hear that your child will be raised catholic.

Most churches will baptize your baby if one of you are Catholic and have received your Confirmation.

This is NOT true....

ANY child, regardless of the faith of the parents, can be baptized Catholic. The point of a baptism is that you're promising to raise the child Catholic, it's about the child, not the faith, or lack thereof, of the parents. Also, since the father is a baptized Catholic as are the godparents, it is definitely not an issue whatsoever.

It has nothing to do with a "donation" or paying off the church for the Sacrament. Yes, many people give the church a donation in grateful receipt of a Sacrament (i.e. marriage or a baptism) but the church does not require the money to perform the Sacrament for you.
